On this glorious autumn
evening, Scott and Helene exchanged their vows. As the sun faded
over the horizon turning the water of the pacific ocean into
a million dazzling shades, we both pledged our lives to each
other. Although we were surrounded by many friends and family,
from near and far, we nonetheless missed certain people that
were unable to attend, and this page has been created so that
they at least may share some of our special day.
We'd hunted around
for something that we both liked for the sermon. Nothing really
seemed suitable, until one day we came across a sonnet that William
Shakespeare had written. Sonnet, number 116, seemed to signify
all that we wanted to say. Both of us also wanted to say something
more than the same old vows, said time and time again by so many
couples. We wanted to say our own words, since from the time
we had met online until when we'd started to live together, words
had been all we had. Therefore we both wrote our own vows, hoping
to say just that little bit more. Other momentos of the day included
a poem my father read out as part of his speech. It was written
for him by a dear friend of Helene's family, her husband actually
went to school with Helene's Dad.
Then of course, there
are the photos. To give you hints, Scott was wearing a long-tailed
black tuxedo with a gold waistcoat, whilst Helene was wearing
a dupion silk gown in gold, with ivory lace bodice. Helene's
bouquet was made from gardenias, stephanolus, white baby roses,
delphinous orchids and ivy. You can see more on the following
pages.
