Telinda
waves, "Egg touching if anyone wants to go!" she says, running by.
You walk toward the lakeside meadow. Raven walks over from the landing field. Craw strides over from the Candidate Barracks. Nareisa strides over from the landing field. Raven dashes after Telinda. Nareisa follows along behind. You walk toward the Entrance to the Hatching Grounds. Craw walks over from the Lakeside Meadow. Nareisa walks over from the Lakeside Meadow. Telinda grins, "Remember what I've said before, those that have gone
before, that the eggs are still soft, so no tapping them. Feeling and touching
are ok though." Raven strides over from the Lakeside Meadow. Nareisa nods listening closely to the Weyrwoman. Craw nods in agreement with Telinda but for some reason his mouth remains
closed. Sure there is that tick again but for the most part Craw remembers
his last trip to the grounds. Telinda smiles, "If we're ready, we'll head in, you can ask questions,
relevant questions" she says looking specifically at Craw, "if you
want to." Craw just can't take it and eventually says "Revlevant questions? Ma'am?
What is a relevant question. I know a question about my runner wouldn't be
good, well other then the fact I don't have one, but I would really like to
have on you knw. Nareisa's eyes seem to be asking all the questions, large like saucers, yet
her mouth isn't spouting them, yet. Raven blinks over at Craw and then at Telinda and clears her throat. "Is
there anything specifically that we shouldn't do?" she inquires softly,
not really wanting to be eaten by the dragons like it's rumored about in the
barracks. Telinda frowns at Craw. Ignore, ignore. She smiles at Raven, "Not really,
just don't tap them." Raven smiles and nods. "Okay..." Telinda heads in. You walk over to the sizzling hot sands. Nareisa strides over from the entrance to the hatching cavern. Raven walks over from the entrance to the hatching cavern. Craw walks over from the entrance to the hatching cavern. Nareisa stops once just on the sands, eyes looking at the eggs clustered
around, letting the other candidates pass her. Telinda grins, waving a hand at the eggs, "Go. Wander around and get
to know them." Rnayth snorts indignatly at the Weyrwoman and the approach of people on his
sancrosanct grounds. He hovers protectively near, tail twitching in nervousness. Craw follows the group of canidates and this time picks another route to
egg touching. The lad notices that the eggs are harder then the last time
so he just hrms softly. This is when Craw notices the angry dragon so he just
kinda stands there for amoment and wonders if asking if he will be eaten is
a relevant question or not. Raven walks over and touches the Cherry Blossom egg, her fingers curling
a bit at the warm and soft surface, her touch tentative and hesitant, especially
when she hears the snort from Rnayth. Nareisa waits for a few others to touch the eggs before finding one nowhere
near the bronze, the Sea Deep Coral egg, resting her hand on it as though
she thinks it might just possibly break. Telinda flickers a look at Craw. Asking would not be a good idea, not now,
nope. She smiles upwards at Tiarnath as the gold rumbles menancing to the
bronze, and then turns her attention back to the candidates. Craw attention is then turned to Tiarnath who doesn't seem to be happy either
which just leaves him in a spot. The lad then shrugs slightly before going
to one of the eggs, real close 'cause he knows the dragon will not harm any
of the eggs and just touches it while he twitches. Nareisa runs her fingers gently ovr the surface of the eggs. The little fish
on the surface her fingers subconsciously avoid, splaying around, as she murmurs
"What a pretty egg this is" to nobody in particular. Nareisa's fingers trace the rest of the patterns, looking up she asks "Can
I hurt it, I mean, unless I tap?" Telinda shakes her head at Nareisa, "No, you can't hurt them. The only
reason I'm saying not to tap is because the shells are so soft. Another sevenday
or so will see them hardening significantly." Nareisa nods. "Should we touch all the eggs?" Telinda smiles, "Is there a reason you like that one egg, Nareisa?"
She shrugs, "Touch the ones you want to. It doesn't make that much of
a difference. Some people's lifemates hatch from the eggs they touch, some
don't. But it makes you aware of just how big they are." She grins, hand
caressing Tiarnath's muzzle, "We'll get all the females near the gold
egg soon as well, despite what her ladyness thinks!" Craw looks up and flashes a brief look of jealously towards the candidate
who is allowed to talk but a sideways look towards the dragons quickly quashes
that so he just stick nexts to the adamantine monolith egg. Nareisa ohs "It's just.... all the lovely colours, and it's almost like
they're fish swimming there," she looks disappointed at Telinda's pronouncement
that it may not make any difference. Telinda chuckles, "Well, that's a good enough reason as any I've heard
for liking an egg." Nareisa grins, and goes back to stroking it lightly. "I wonder... if
you were a bronze, you wouldn't be for me. Perhaps a green?" she seems
stuck on this green idea... Telinda grins, "You want a green?" she asks Nareisa, "How
about you Craw? Yes, you can answer" she says almost in reflex. Craw looks up at the mention of fish swimming and then quickly turns his
attention back to the egg. If anyone pays any attention to him they will see
his lips are moving but they will have to look hard because he is trying his
best to hide it but his lack of twitching should be one major clue. Nareisa sighs. "It's just..." fingers trailing over the surface
of the eggshell "Well if I did impress, well green's the most likely
colour, isn't it?" Telinda shakes her head, "No. There's brown, gold, or blue as well.
It doesn't have to be green." Craw ohs slightly as Telinda looks his way. The lad slouches slightly as
if he is hiding behind the egg but with no dragon coming to eat him up the
lad says "Well I havn't really thought about it. I know I don't want
a gold egg but since I am a boy that doesn't really matter, I mean as for
the blue, I like blues, have I told you that my older brother has a nice blue?
It lets me feed it lots, hrm, browns are big but bronzes are bigger and I
am not sure if I really want a really big dragon, I mean how do you climb
atop of them?" Nareisa shrugs "There's only one gold," she says. "And I thought..."
oh, hang on, don't correct the Weyrwoman, she knows more about it than you
"I don't really mind. It doesn't really depend on the colour, does it?" Telinda giggles, "With straps!" she calls over to Craw, then nods
to Nareisa, "If you impress, the colour will not matter, no." Nareisa nods. "That's what they always said," more to herself than
anyone else, hand resting on another egg beside her. "That it just mattered
they were right for you." Telinda nods, "Exactly! Unfortunately, that's it for this evening. We'll
do another real soon!" Nareisa nods, snatching her hands away from the eggs. "I have er...
more numbweed awaiting anyway." Joy. After a moment she smiles over to
the Weyrwoman. "Thank you. Telinda smiles, "You're welcome. I'll catch you around soon!" Nareisa nods, slipping out. Nareisa walks down the tunnel. Craw stands up suddenly at Telinda's word and seems nice and relaxed with
not a twitch to be seen. A wave is sent to Telinda before he heads out of
the sands Craw walks down the tunnel.
