Southern Weyr sense that Tiarnath trumpets << I'm bored! >>
Dragon> Southern Weyr sense that Duirath wakes up again with a start.
<< What? Where? Huh? >> Dragon> Southern Weyr sense that Rnayth sounds indignant. << But
I'm here. >> Dragon> Southern Weyr sense that Tiarnath snorts at Rnayth << Then
entertain me! >> Dragon> Southern Weyr sense that Luiseth rumbles lazily. << Why?
I hear the sands are nice and warm, I'd just like to lie there all day...
>> Dragon> Southern Weyr sense that Ceruth rumbles << My rider says
he is thankful that I did not win you that day, Tiarnath. I do not know why;
but he mentioned something about I'm enough trouble as it is. I think it's
because we like to roll in mud together. >> Dragon> Southern Weyr sense that Tiarnath just glares in Ceruth's direction.
<< I do not need to hear that right now. >> Dragon> Ceruth bespoke Southern Weyr with << Speaking of which;
that recent *storm* left some nice puddles to play in. *pause* Oh, okay then.
>> You walk over to the Candidate Barracks. Telinda pokes her head around the door, and nods, "Evening all. How're
you all doing?" Auralia blinks, jumping up from her cot, "Oh! Evening, Weyrwoman. We're
doing alright, I guess." Aidan is sitting down on his newly-acquired cot. "Evening, ma'am,"
he says with a grin. Strange how authority figures don't like to be called
ma'am and sir. "I'm fine. Is Tiarnath well?" Telinda grins, "I was thinking of taking some of you out to touch eggs,
Tia's a little bored. Anyone interested?" Imara nods, "Okay Auri." She turns as she hears a familiar voice
and smiles at Telinda. "I'm doing great." Shadara grins and chuckles, "They seem to be doing well Tiarnath> From the Galleries, N'all walks in and looks down at the eggs.
His brow furrows in thought. Tiarnath> From the Galleries, Kinoa smiles fondly at the memory of that
night. "I certainly hope that this hatching will be more..." she
glances down at the sands and the oft-mischevious gold dragon brooding there.
"Normal. Or at least normal enough that the candidates can see the hatchlings
instead of just having to dodge eyes." She looks over and grins at N'all
as he comes in. "N'all! What was it I had to tell you. Hmm." Auralia's face breaks into a grin, "Oh, that would be wonderful! I'd
love to." Shadara chuckles and grins, "I should probably stay off the snads now,
I think." Aidan grins and stands quickly from his cot. "Really? An egg-touching?
Great!" Tiarnath> From the Galleries, T'dru slides Kinoa a look. "Tiarnath?
Normal?" He has to ponder that concept...somehow the two don't fit. His
eyes move to N'all and he nods once, acknowledging him respectfully. Tiarnath> From the Galleries, N'all looks at Kinoa, "I am sure whatever
it was is so bloody important that it is indelibly etched in your memory."
N'all's humor to the forefront. Of course no smile is cracked. Seems like
the close we get to hatching the Stoneman gets harder, "Heyla, T'dru." Tiarnath> From the Galleries, Lashana manages to shake her head again,
and glance at the gold out on the sands as well. "More like a smischevious
as her rider, I'd say." She does lift a knife wielding hand to wave lazily
at N'all, and offer up a "Morning, sir." Telinda nods, "Well, I suggest that you just wear something cool, and
make sure you have thick soled sandals or boots on." Auralia just grins, and moves to her things, tossing out loose tunics and
deciding on one as quick as she can. Shadara chuckles, 'Well mainly it's the fact the healers say I'm due any
day now, from the looks of me." Tiarnath> From the Galleries, Kinoa thinks hard for a couple of minutes,
then snaps her fingers once. "Ah, yes. My cousin asked me to tell you,
actually," she says, grinning at N'all. "You met him at Cove. He
asked me to suggest that you might want to think about having the weavers
make you some larger shirts." Her eyes drift lazily over his super-manly
physique. "So you're not splitting the seams on the ones you have all
the time." Tiarnath> From the Galleries, N'all looks at Lashana, "You are not
from here, so I forgive you for calling me sir." He looks at Kinoa, "I
see." Telinda grins and nods to Shadara, "Why don't you head up to the galleries
with the others Tia says are up there. I'm sure there's cold drinks and everything." Tiarnath> From the Galleries, T'dru straightens up quickly, blinking in
surprise at Kinoa. "Your cousin said that!?" His mouth rounds in
awe. "I'd like to meet him some time, I think." He tries very very
hard not to smile as he looks over at N'all. Shadara giggles and nods, "I'll leave now, so I make it there by the
time the candidates are all changed." Shadara walks toward the Lakeside Meadow. Tiarnath> From the Galleries, Shadara walks over from the entrance to
the hatching cavern. Tiarnath> From the Galleries, Kinoa nods again, not trying to hide her
smile at all. "Indeed he did," she tells T'dru, adding, "You'd
like him, I think." Then to N'all, "Just wanted to pass that along
before I forgot." Tiarnath> From the Galleries, N'all nods to Kinoa, "Noted." Tiarnath> From the Galleries, Lashana merely raises an eyebrow as she
resheathes her knife, but doesn't add any other comments, merely quirking
a half smirk to add to the raised eyebrow. "Master," the subtlest
of inflections on the title, "Lashana, Harper of Island River."
she intones the remainder formally. Aidan nods quickly and bends over his cot, pulling open his press and almost
tossing things out by the handful as he rummages for thick-soled footwear. Tiarnath> From the Galleries, N'all nods to Lashana, "N'all. Weyrlingmaster."
No inflection, nothing. He is Ben Stein of Pern. Tiarnath> From the Galleries, Shadara comes creeping up the stairs, one
slow step at a time, "Ugh, I gotta get this over with before I become
stranded somewhere and there's nobody around to help me get up." Tiarnath> From the Galleries, N'all looks at Shadara, "You choose
to climb the stairs." Imara walks over to an empty cot with her bag that she hasn't even set down
with. She sits down and pulls out a pair of boots. Tiarnath> From the Galleries, Shadara chuckles, 'Well it's either that
or isolate myself from your presence bossman." she says with a grin and
a wink, "Besides, I'm due anyday now, maybe all the stair climbing will
bring on labor." Tiarnath> From the Galleries, A sort of choking noise comes out of T'dru
which might be muffled laughter but it's definitely not directed at Shadara
at all. In fact, T'dru looks half ready to get up and run for a Healer or
something just in case. Auralia struggles with her boots, rumaging in her things for thick socks
to go with them. One foot hangs in the air, while the other is firmly on the
ground. She swings around, almost knocking another candidate over, before
the boot falls into place and she can try the other one. Tiarnath> From the Galleries, Kinoa is done teasing N'all, not having
expected much of a reaction anyway. She peers at T'dru, eyebrows going up
as he starts choking again. "Don't you dare do that to me again,"
she warns, ready to smack him soundly on the back if need be. Tiarnath> From the Galleries, Lashana deposits the chunk of wood inher
hand into a pouch and hmmms. "They say walking helps, lass. Least the
healers I've known." She lifts one shoulder in a little shrug, not bothering
to rise or even move from her lazy posture despite T'dru's straightening and
further antics. Tiarnath> From the Galleries, Shadara hmmms and shrugs as she settles
down in a seat, "They've been telling me any day now for the last two
sevendays so, eventually." Tiarnath> From the Galleries, T'dru looks at Kinoa, ducking down, the
noise dying with that action. "Sorry. I won't. I couldn't help it though."
His gaze moves back over to N'all and a grin starts twitching at his mouth. Tiarnath> From the Galleries, N'all mutters to himself, and the term weaver
is clearly heard. He test flexes and sure enough a seam on his sleave gives
a slight ripping sound, "It seems he was correct. I shall endeavor to
correct the situation at once." Tiarnath> From the Galleries, sleeve Telinda looks around, "Are we ready then?" she asks. Tiarnath> From the Galleries, T'dru points out helpfully, just loud enough
for N'all to hear. "Wasn't Raven a seamstress or something? Maybe she
could help out with those alterations." Craw comes back from where ever he is and where that happens to be is some
place that has made the walking Ash mound into a walking candidate who just
happens to say "Oh hello ma'am Telinda, how are you doing? Did you think
of what I said the other day. I was meaning to ask you about that? Are I ready
for what? I mean I just had a bath so I hope it isn't something that will
get me dirty." Tiarnath> From the Galleries, N'all does the obvious remedy and removes
his shirt. He folds it into an impossibly neat fold and rests it on his leg. Auralia nods, having put her other boot on, "I am." Tiarnath> From the Galleries, Kinoa watches T'dru a minute to make sure
he doesn't have a relapse and then turns back to N'all, who's suddenly shirtless.
"Um, oh," she says, unable /not/ to look at those bulging muscles.
"Yes, that's much better I think." Tiarnath> From the Galleries, Shadara blinks at N'all. "Yeesh N'all,
we know you like to be buff, but you really should get looser fits if you
want your clothes to last, either that or you're enjoying not having your
shirt on." she says with another grin and a chuckle. Imara takes off her sandals and shoves her feet into her boots. She stands
up and nods. "I'm ready." Telinda peers once at Craw, smiles, then simply says, "Get your boots
on Craw, we're going somewhere" in a tone that brooks no argument. Without
waiting to see who's ready, she heads out. "Come on, you lot, touch some
eggs!" You walk over to the Lakeside Meadow. Imara walks over from the Candidate Barracks. Aidan strides over from the Candidate Barracks. Tiarnath> From the Galleries, N'all looks at Shadara, "Shadara, I
did this merely to prevent further damage to an otherwise perfectly functional
shirt." He looks at T'dru, "I will investigate." Auralia strides over from the Candidate Barracks. Tiarnath> From the Galleries, Lashana shakes her head slightly, and clears
her throat, "There's some rather skilled lasses over that the Weaver
hall too, even if they are a bit low on supplies right now." She makes
absolutely no statement whatever to the weyrlingmaster's sudden lack of attire,
but neither doesshe seem particularly concerned with it. You walk over to the Entrance to the Hatching Grounds. Aidan strides over from the Lakeside Meadow. Auralia strides over from the Lakeside Meadow. Imara strides over from the Lakeside Meadow. Tiarnath> From the Galleries, T'dru pretty much ignores N'all except to
give him an approving nod for being sensible about his clothing. Telinda looks around, "Ok, Craw's holding us up a little. Before we
go out, do you have any questions?" Tiarnath> From the Galleries, Kinoa offers helpfully, "He only said
the shirt, he didn't say anything about the pants," just to make sure
N'all doesn't get carried away. Tiarnath> From the Galleries, Shadara chuckles and nods, 'Right N'all,
and I bet it doesn't hurt to know that lasses left and right will be staring
at that big chest of yours either." Yep, Shar is in a teasing mood, can't
you just tell. Tiarnath> From the Galleries, N'all nods to Lashana, "thank you for
the information, Lashana." He peers at Shadara, "They may stare
all they wish. This chest is spoken for." Aidan pauses for a moment, then asks, "Should we bow to Tiarnath when
we go out there? I've seen others do that..." Craw walks over from the Lakeside Meadow. Telinda shakes her head to Aidan's question, "Not really necessary,
she's going to be protective, but just be respectful of her and you'll be
fine." Craw comes running after half hoping to get his boots on right. The lad is
speaking in his rapid fire sort of way but whatever it is is mostly hidden
but there is the occasionally snipets "Why my boots? ... why is sand
always hot? ... I really like your hair." Tiarnath> From the Galleries, Shadara giggles and hmmms at N'all, "Right
uh huh, we know that N'all, yup yup." She then rubs at her back again
and shifts to settle down in a seat, "So how is everyone today, aside
from wanting to sit around without a shirt on that is." Tiarnath> From the Galleries, N'all looks at Shadara, and says, deadpan,
"Nothing is preventing you from removing your shirt." Tiarnath> From the Galleries, T'dru looks at Kinoa hopefully. Tiarnath> From the Galleries, Kinoa is still wearing a shirt, thank you,
but she smiles at Shadara. "Been busy," she says, trying not to
be one of those staring girls but she does have a thing for finely muscled
bronzeriders. She catches T'dru's look and starts giggling. "No, I don't
think so." Tiarnath> From the Galleries, Shadara chuckles and grins, "There
most certainly is, it's called stretch marks." Telinda can't help it, and lets her lips curl slightly at Craw's compliment,
"Alright. The eggs are going to be soft. As the sands get hotter, and
they're out there longer, they'll gradually harden. Until then, no tapping
the eggs, or Tia'll have a fit. You can touch them, look at them, rub them,
but no violent moves. The sand'll be hot, but it's getting hotter with every
day. Remember that. Any more questions?" Tiarnath> From the Galleries, "Oh, I found it a fine day to visit
the weyr and sit about peering at the eggs," Lashana offers drily, leaning
back to further stretch her legs, "Bit nippy for removing shirts, thought." Tiarnath> From the Galleries, N'all squeezes back into his shirt. Auralia shakes her head, "I don't think so, Weyrwoman." She moves
from foot to foot uneasily, wanting to get onto the sands and not, all at
the saem time. Tiarnath> From the Galleries, T'dru gets a cajoling look, He mutters to
Kinoa, "... have... against... tastes run more... you than..." Imara shakes her head. "No questions here." Tiarnath> From the Galleries, Shadara chuckles, "Oh leave it off
N'all, it's a nice sight, besides, Rose wouldn't want you to tear your hshirt.
How are the eggs looking do you think, I can't lean forward enough anymore
to get a good look at them." Tiarnath> From the Galleries, N'all looks rather comical, though, as he
is obviously sitting very still not to move his arms or shoulders. Craw thinks about this for a moment and then opens his mouth open to say
a question only pauses slightly before finally saying "Do you mean that,
that I can ask questions and you will listen too me? I mean really do so 'cause
I can understand if you don't but I just want to make sure 'cause well it
is really important to me." Tiarnath> From the Galleries, N'all looks at Shadara, "Why would
she not want me to rip off my shirt? She has done it on multiple occasions." Telinda smiles, "Craw, I'll answer the questions so long as you think
about which ones, you're only allowed to ask perninent, important questions
for now." Tiarnath> From the Galleries, Shadara chuckles and grins, "Well women
like to rip shirts off their men, it's fun. I've even been nice enough to
mend E'dar's shirts too. If it's new material, don't tear it, just leave the
shirt off." Tiarnath> From the Galleries, N'all does smile as he looks at the clutch,
run for the hills, "Tiarnath, as usual, has laid a fine clutch." Tiarnath> From the Galleries, Kinoa grins slyly at T'dru's comment, turning
to eye him curiously. She mutters to T'dru, "I... shirtless but... if..." Tiarnath> From the Galleries, Lashana settles back and rests her head
on clasped hands, peering out at the sands past her outstretched legs and
letting the riders chatter around her. "Oh what is a perninent question then." Craw says quite seriously
"I mean I don;t want to annoy you too much and well maybe I should just
shut up. I mean I can do that, and you can tell me too 'cause well I understand
that mostly, but well I just what to know what a pernient question is, I mean
what is a pernient question? Is it a question about this planet or something
like that?" Telinda grins, "Craw, shut up!" she says, though not bad naturedly,
"Right, lets go touch those eggs!" You walk toward the sizzling hot sands. Auralia strides over from the entrance to the hatching cavern. Aidan walks over from the entrance to the hatching cavern. From the Galleries, T'dru looks around at Shadara and Lashana then back at
Kinoa. "Oh well, you still owe me that prize anyway." He smiles
a little, eyes twinkling, but he turns towards the sands as the candidates
come in. "And I think I'd best not follow his example right now anyway." Craw strides over from the entrance to the hatching cavern. From the Galleries, Shadara chuckles and hmmms, "Prize? Now that sounds
entirely intriguing." Imara strides over from the entrance to the hatching cavern. From the Galleries, N'all's expression hardens as the Candidates walk in.
He looks at a candidate for a while, frowns and then looks at another one. From the Galleries, Kinoa flashes another grin T'dru-wards and then follows
his gaze over to the sands. "Yes, now's probably not the best time,"
she murmurs, but all this talk of people ripping shirts off their men has
her cheeks faintly pink. At Shadara's query, she smirks but doesn't answer,
letting T'dru handle it if he wants to. Auralia steps out onto the sands, looking around cautiously. The eggs are
given the longest glance, although her eyes flit between the Queen and the
Bronze from time to time. From the Galleries, Lashana sits up, at least onto her elbows, as the candidates
and Telinda walk onto the sands. This gives her a perfect opportunity to raise
an eyebrow towards Kinoa and T'dru, lips quirking into a half smirked grin
once more. From the Galleries, T'dru just flashes Shadara a quick grin, "Oh it's
nothing really." His eyes move away from the Assistant Weyrlingmaster
and he gets quiet so he can watch what's going on. From the Galleries, Shadara chuckles and grins at Kinoa and shakes her head,
"Well now there's this rumor about you and a certain bronzerider, Kin." Telinda smiles and gestures to the eggs, even as Tiarnath lowers her head
protectively over the gold egg and peers at the candidates as they file in.
A deep rumbles emanates from her chest as she examines each one carefully. From the Galleries, Kinoa hmms softly, putting on her best innocent look.
"Really, which one?" she asks curiously, keeping her eyes on the
candidates and the sands. Craw walks in and sticks in the background. The lads mouth is closed firmly
and he seems to have developed a slight tick in his shoulder but other then
that he is a well behaved little candidate who just happens to be listening
into what is going on around him. When the gold rumbles though his eyes widen
but stays still. From the Galleries, N'all watches the Candidates, and for a brief moment
compassion softens his countenance and looks at T'dru, "remember what
I said, T'dru. We always lose a few." His face sets back into its normal
mask. From the Galleries, Shadara sighs softly and she nods, 'Some from their own
stubborness." Imara walks in behind the other candidates. She stops as she spies the eggs,
and stands there, just looking. From the Galleries, T'dru nods shortly at N'all. "I will." His
eyes move across the Candidates below solemnly. From the Galleries, Shadara chuckles and points at T'dru, "Him, Kin."
she says before shifting in her seat again with a sigh, "We'll do our
best not to lose any, but there's always at least one." From the Galleries, N'all suddenly laughs, then goes immediately quiet, "Apologies." From the Galleries, Kinoa blinks several times. "/Really/," she
replies to Shadara, giving T'dru a sidelong look. "My, it's interesting
how rumors get started, isn't it?" she comments, smirking some more. From the Galleries, Lashana looks over at the weyrlingmasters and then down
at the candidates before muttering something very softly to herself which
seems to include the words after and impression, though it is a rather soft
mumble. Auralia walks, slowly and rather carefuly, up towards the Cherry blosson
egg, gently pulling a hand from her side to lan over and....No, she pulls
it back, as if she is scared of Dragonflame and other tortures. And then,
looking around to see that no one is watching, she lets her hand rest lightly
on the egg, and smiles in delight. Tiarnath cannot flame, isn't that just wonderful! Maybe it was an inbred
thing. Who knows. She stares at the first candidate to touch her egg, another
rumble, deeper still, like a fathomless ocean, echos out across the sands. From the Galleries, T'dru blinks at N'all once, smiles slightly at Kinoa
and nods, "Isn't it though?" However, that's about all he says before
leaning back some to whisper at Master Lashana. His looks seem to go from
Candidate to Candidate as he quietly gives her names to faces. From the Galleries, N'all looks at T'dru, "Ceruth was amazed at how
we dwell on our "removable hides"." Telinda strides over to Tiarnath, the sleeves of her light linen shirt flapping
in the breeze that she generates, "Stop that, Tia, you know they have
to touch the eggs!" From the Galleries, T'dru breaks from his conversation, to grin at N'all,
offering quietly. "I had trouble explaining to Duirath that I wasn't
shedding horribly the first time he saw me take mine off." Imara slowly moves toward an egg which looks like a desert sunrise. She reaches
out and carefully strokes it once with her hand. From the Galleries, Lashana nods at each introduction, one sided though they
are, frowning slightly and muttering back a question pitched low enough to
only find the ex-harper's ears. From the Galleries, Kinoa grins, overhearing N'all's comment. "Luiseth
likes them, though she says she wishes mine were more colorful." A small
shrug for the vagaries of draconic logic. Auralia jumps back at the rumbles, looking around in alarm. When there seems
to be nothing happening, she sends her hand out yet again, as a homing sygnal,
well, almost. She kneels down in the sand, mesmerizedd by the egg. From the Galleries, Shadara giggles softly, "Saith keeps asking me when
I'm going to lay my eggs, and why mine move when Tiarnath's stay so still." Aidan, now that someone has already touched one of the eggs, moves forward
through the burning Sands, finally pausing in front of the Midnight Creek
egg. His hand hesitantly reaches forward, and pulls back after a moment. Forward
again, retreat again. The third time he attempts to touch the egg, he succeeds.
Third time has always been a charm. His fingers trail through the mud-like
texture of the egg, and down over the silver moonlight-kissed reeds. Craw loosk at the rest of the candidates and sees them all touching the eggs.
A look of confusion is on his face happens while Craw scritches the back of
his neck before he too decides to touch an egg, one of the ones farthest from
the mother that is. From the Galleries, N'all nods to Shadara, "And I'd bet she doesn't
quite the "they hatch internally" idea, does she?" From the Galleries, Doesn't quite get the . . . From the Galleries, Shadara laughs and nods, 'She's still confused at the
difference between a hatchling and a baby. She's never seen a newborn, so
expects then to look like a hatchling." From the Galleries, Kinoa glances over at Shadara. "She thinks you're
going to have a dragon?" she asks somewhat confusedly. Tiarnath cants her long, graceful neck to warble curiously to her lifemate,
causing Telinda to frown momentarily, her hand resting on her stomach. A hand
reaches out to touch the golden snout, and a moment or two pass with the pair
in silent communication, a smile playing over the Weyrwoman's lips. As she
turns back, Tiarnath seems to settle a little, her wings rustling as she does
so. From the Galleries, "Well, I've never found much flaw with it,"
Lashana utters in a slightly more carrying pitch, adding as an afterthought,
"Draconic logic, of course. Much simpler than humans, at times." Auralia seems content to stay where she is, murmuring something under her
breath about how beautiful this egg is, although that could just be the impression
that people get. Whatever it is, she is fully concentrating, and quite happy. Craw looks at the egg he touched a second time with a wide eyed expression
and then shakes his head in disbelief. Craw then goes to another egg and lightly
touches it. From the Galleries, Kinoa grins at Lashana. "You're probably right,
if I let Luiseth make all my decisions my life would be much simpler."
She'd eat, bathe and then lie around all day, but still. Imara touches the sunrise egg again, and this time her hand lingers on its
surface. She takes her hand away and gazes at it for a moment before running
her fingers lightly across it. From the Galleries, N'all nods to Kinoa, "Aye. And for me, I'd be running
around, peeking in people's homes and spreading gossip." From the Galleries, Lashana chuckles. "Might just wind up getting oiled
a bit more often than you'd like though, I'd wager." she winks at Kinoa
and then turns to eye Shadara with a smile, "And have you decided where
you'll foster yet, lass?" From the Galleries, Shadara chuckles softly, "I'm not certain, I know
she understands it's not the same, but I have to keep telling her it's not
the same. She is getting worried about me though, I'm over a sevenday past
when the healers first expected the baby to arrive." From the Galleries, T'dru comments quietly. "I'd just be peeking in
homes and having to keep all the secrets." From the Galleries, Kinoa smirks at Lashana's last comment. "Oh, I don't
know, I rather enjoy being oiled." From the Galleries, Kinoa's words grab T'dru's attention quite promptly.
He looks at her once then jerks his eyes back to the Sands and the goings
on there. From the Galleries, Shadara hmmms a bit, "As far as fostering goes,
I really don't know, I want to be near my child." From the Galleries, Lashana's gaze only wavers from the pregnant greenrider
for a bare second to glance at Kinoa with an eyeroll before coming back. "Ahh,
well Southern's right there, lass. Lots of the riders used ahh, what was her
name," she pauses to think, "Well the wet nurse down there. Good
lass, very cheerful with the littles." From the Galleries, Kinoa is currently lightly covered with oil, though not
of her own volition. She can't help but grin at T'dru, then nods at Lashana
again. "She's right, the Hold's nearby, or you could even foster it here
at the Weyr. That's why we have nannies isn't it?" Practical as ever. From the Galleries, Shadara nods, "There's time yet to decide if we
want to foster out somewhere." From the Galleries, Lashana nods, tearing her attention away and back to
the sands with another little shrug, "Of course." Telinda smiles and wanders over to the candidates, "Do they feel soft
to you?" she asks. Aidan nods as his fingers lightly probe the top of the egg. "Very." Telinda grins, "Care to try and explain -how- it feels to you? I'm interested." Craw doesn't say a word, not a word at all, even when Telinda askes him a
uestion. Oh sure his tick gets bigger and the lad eyes seem to get wider but
the lad just stays quiet. Telinda bites back a giggle as she flickers a look to Craw, "This is
one of those times you can speak" she mentions, just in case. Aidan just shrugs at the question, rather than trying to explain. From the Galleries, N'all looks at the harper master, and finally remembers
his manners, "Southern's duties to the Hall." He's a bit behind
the times, ain't he? From the Galleries, T'dru keeps an ear cocked towards the sands, but leans
towards Kinoa asking her something very quietly so as not to miss hearing
anything. From the Galleries, Shadara grins and gets to her feet with the help of a
bluerider that's sitting near her, an nod given as she yawns, "I'm off
to go and get some sleep, I'm tired a lot lately." Craw lets out a big gasp of air before saying "Well they kinda feel
soft, warm but soft. I mean softer then my sisters gather dress, the one that
is a weaver, or is it a tailor, anyways really soft, and well they are warm
too. I mean a nice little warm and isn't there something in there, I mean
there was kinda this feeling I have but since I have feelings all the time
I can't be so sure about that, do you have feelings, oh and thank you for
letting me talk." From the Galleries, Lashana chuckles softly, and inclines her head towards
N'all. "And Harpers to Southern, again." From the Galleries, Her head bobs again at Shadara's pronouncement, and she
adds, "Sleep well, lass." From the Galleries, T'dru nods over at Shadara, "Rest well Shadara." From the Galleries, N'all looks at Shadara, "Clear skies and sure steps,
Shadara." He just made a joke. Wow. From the Galleries, Shadara chuckles and nods, 'Saith's got her tail up the
stairs to make sure I have something keeping me safe." From the Galleries, Shadara walks toward the Entrace to the Hatching Caverns. Telinda bobs her head, now smiling openly, "That's fine, just make sure
that when you talk, you talk sense, or I'll never let you talk again."
She's teasing, mostly. "Feelings are good too. But that's a nice description
of how I think they feel as well!" From the Galleries, T'dru nods at Kinoa, although his attention gets captured
by Craw's response, at least what he can hear of it. From the Galleries, Kinoa murmurs a reply to T'dru, trying to hear what's
being said on the sands. "Bye Shar," she says with a wave. From the Galleries, N'all just looks at Craw, "He might be a problem
if he Impresses." You can almost here the registers in his head click
from a 0 to 1. From the Galleries, Lashana actually leans forward topeer at the fast talking
lad critically, leaning her elbows on her knees. "What did you say that
ones name was?" From the Galleries, T'dru leans back towards Lashana. "Craw, ma'em." From the Galleries, Kinoa turns to N'all quizzically. "Why?" she
wonders aloud. Craw shrugs slightly with a grin "Oh I always talk sense, I mean what
I say is what I say and it isn't hard to understand that is it? I mean that
is easy." Craw crains his next to look at the gallery "Yes I am
Craw, I am a candidate here, well at least I think I am, have you ever touched
an egg before ma'am? It is kinda weird in a good sorta way, way better then
touching fish guts that is for sure." From the Galleries, N'all intones, "He thinks too literally and doesn't
pause when speaking. This could indicate a person that is thinking about what
he chooses to think about rather than what is presented to him." From the Galleries, N'all continues, "Which could cause a false visualization
during the course of *between* training and result in the demise of the dragonpair." From the Galleries, Kinoa ahhs softly, trying to view the candidates with
a weyrlingmaster's eye. "I see," she says quietly. "Can't that
be learned, or taught?" she further wonders. Telinda looks up at the gallery, hand going to shield her face. She waves,
and grins upwards as she gets told who's up there, nodding to Tiarnath to
pass something along. From the Galleries, Lashana hmms softly, and lowers her voice, "Ah,
I don't know, he seemed rather articulate, if a bit fast talking, about the
descriptions. I'd say a good memory and a fine sense of what he knows. As
a first impression of course. Possibility of a good level of eidetics."
THe harper hardly even blinks or bothers to think of her assessment beyond
laying it out. From the Galleries, N'all shakes his head to Kinoa, "I can train them
to visualize. I can train them to fly, but I can't train behaviors out of
them, try as hard as I might." Dragon> Southern Weyr sense that Tiarnath rumbles irritably << My
rider asks that you pass along to the Harper that Craw talks enough to -be-
a harper! Luiseth? Would you get your rider to say that please? >> "Is that bad? Well I guess that would be bad if you say it is bad."
Craw states to N'all but he continues on "But why is it bad to say what
you are thinking about? I mean it is better just to say what you mean then
to hide them 'cause all you do is get bitter. I mean honesty is good right?" Dragon> Southern Weyr sense that Luiseth yawns and agrees good-naturedly
to pass it along. << Craw? >> she repeats, just to make sure she
remembers the name. From the Galleries, T'dru straightens back up and nods once at Lashana, "Could
be. And that'd be a plus for visualization." From the Galleries, Kinoa's eyes blank out for a moment before a smile crosses
her face. Turning to Lashana, she says, "Luiseth says that Tiarnath says
that Telinda says," anyway getting to the important part, "That
Craw talks enough to /be/ a harper." She watches both Lashana and T'dru
for their reactions to that. From the Galleries, N'all stands up and goes to the railing, and in a very
controlled, yet very carrying voice, "Concern yourself not with what
I am saying, boy. It is yet to pass. Worry about your current tasks, and then
we'll worry about the other should you Impress." Craw turns to Lashana and T'dru "See, that is a good thing uhm, can
either of you tell me what visualize have to do with anything? I mean I know
what I know and that is good. I just have to say it lots for people to listen.
I mean ... a harper? You mean one of those types you try to force you to read,
why would I want to be somebody like that. No, no, not a good harper." Dragon> Tiarnath bespoke Southern Weyr with << Him, yes, the talkative
one >> Dragon> Ceruth bespoke Southern Weyr with << My rider is convinced
that he will be a trouble student. Whatever that means. >> Dragon> Southern Weyr sense that Luiseth passes along the amused impression
she's getting from her rider. << Kinoa says she understands why someone
told him not to talk. >> Telinda blinks, turns to Craw, "Now is the time to shut up!" she
remarks, nodding to herself. From the Galleries, Lashana laughs, and leans forther out so that she can
actually be seen down below on the sounds, and she waves at Telinda, "I
see what you mean, ma'am!" she calls out, before adding, "Harpering
is a fine tradition and profession lad. Now you should mind those eggs, and
forget about the doddering ones up here." With that, she settles back
into her comfortable position. Telinda grins at Lashana, waving to the harper now that she can see her more
clearly, "Troublesome ones were always the sore points, weren't they,
Lashana?!" she calls up. From the Galleries, T'dru looks blandly at Kinoa, "Actually reminds
me of someone I know." Aidan smirks as he turns from Craw. "Nothing bloody wrong with Harpers..."
he murmurs, too softly to be heard. Craw turns to Telinda and starts to say something but sees the gold dragon
in the background and shuts up. Sure the tick starts again and he sees figety
but the lad is quiet once more. From the Galleries, Kinoa covers her mouth with her hand, trying to mask
her giggles. "Shards, he's worse than-" she turns to T'dru, not
trusting blandness at all. "Oh? And who is that?" From the Galleries, T'dru raises a brow and looks at Kinoa, his eyes going
a bit vague. From the Galleries, Lashana manages to lean forward again to stare striaght
down at Telinda, and wink with slow deliberateness. "Oh, some I can think
of were worse than others, lass. But they all grow up in the end." From the Galleries, N'all nods, "And the time they have to do it in
is limited, Post-Impression." Telinda nods, "Much better" she indicates, Tiarnath settling back
down again, "I think we need to do this again sometime, but we should
finish about now." From the Galleries, Kinoa grins as she receives some message from Luiseth
and eyes T'dru. "Why doesn't that surprise me?" she asks, grinning
at him. Aidan's face is suddenly tinged with greens, and a hand clutches at his mouth.
"Weyrwoman, ma'am? Can I be excused?" he manages to get out, before
the hand is placed back over his lips. tinged with green Telinda nods to Aidan, "Sure thing, off you go, and quickly now!" Aidan walks down the tunnel. Craw turns to look at Aidan but not a word is spoken. Instead he looks hopefully
at Telinda as he wants to leave now so he can start talking again. Telinda shoo's Craw off the sands with a gesture, "Go lad, I think we
need to find you a harper instructor to teach you what to ask and what not
to! Off you go!" From the Galleries, T'dru grins back at Kinoa, then blinks at her. A slight
flush beneath the tan as he looks over to watch Aidan flee off the Sands.
He makes half a motion to rise, before deciding it'd be best to leave the
poor boy alone. Craw makes a face at the mention of a harper but runs off, more then happy
to leave this not so quiet place. Craw walks down the tunnel. From the Galleries, Kinoa puts that innocent face back on and watches the
candidates leave, stretching slightly. From the Galleries, Lashana raises an eyebrow, and then lowers it again,
smoothing her features into their habitual amiable look, leaning forward to
mark the candidates as they walk off the sands. Telinda caresses Tiarnath's muzzle and whispers to the gold as the candidates
file off the sands, then pats her once and wanders off her self. You walk down the tunnel and off the sands.
