It's Weyrling Graduation night, and Elidi's clutch decides to hatch!

November 22 1999, Logged by Telinda

K'tor slides down to Albanth's foreleg, and then casually drops the rest of the way to the ground.

Dull White Egg shudders and rolls out of the mound of sand.

Dull White Egg shudders as knocking sounds vibrate from within.

Kinoa swings her leg over Luiseth's side before sliding down to the ground.

Fiona waves to the rider she came with as he heads back toward the landing field, then griins as she spots people she knows.

Dull White Egg trembles almost with an eagerness like that of a runner brought to the starting line of a racing length, with such force does it rock. A moment more, and, in the suddenness of a beast freed to speed along the track, a hatchling spills from the remains of this cracked shell.

---*** Crystalline Geode Blue Hatchling ***---

Reminiscent of the colouring of the rocks that, when cut in half, are miniature caves filled with quartz, this little blue makes his presence known. Crystalline ridges, the blue sparking through the mica dusting, show up in relief against his hide, like diminutive stalagmites and stalactites. The outer ring of the geode is a shade of pure, unadulterated blue, fathomless and with no impurities or marks. Wings, when extended, are of translucent agate, the blue clear and without occlusion.

Telinda shakes her head, "You always do this to me, don't you

Byrlyn wanders down, carrying her sack. She blinks. Another big crowd of people. Hmm.

Nareisa blinks. "What Niaeth...oh." She gulps. "Hatching. No I don't think so."

K'tor comes down the path, accompanied by his little blue, that is alternately tugging on him and humming encouragement to the eggs. He bears a large bowl with him, full of scraps. "All right, all right. Here. I brought food." He gives Telinda a rather baleful look.

Kinoa comes along with Luiseth, the green immediately settling down into the warmest spot on the beach. Kinoa waves cheerfully to everyone save K'tor, whom she pointedly ignores, as usual.

Telinda snorts, "Nareisa, can you get some food, or these little pests will get eaten!"

L'bon strides over from the Coastal Path.

Nerian grins at Nareisa. "At least it isn't a green flight."

Fiona strides closer to the gathering group, and then blinks. Hatching? Did she hear...? "Hello," she calls hesitantly.

Nareisa pales. "Food?"

Crystalline Geode Blue Hatchling blinks slowly as he looks around. Oooh, right, what's the big occasion? He takes a tentative step forward and creels.

Glossy White Egg shudders and rolls out of the mound of sand.

Glossy White Egg suddenly starts to whirl around in circles as the hatchling inside struggles for admittance into the world.

Kinoa smiles at Nerian and glances at Luiseth. "That could be arranged," she tells Nareisa sweetly. She must be kidding, right?

Glossy White Egg spins around and around in a concerted movement of sound, faint notes of tapping audible. In a burst of chiming tones a tiny green muzzle peeks out, shards falling about her in a flurry of notes as she shudders her way free.

Byrlyn steps a bit closer, curiousity getting the better of her. The sack is slung down to the ground as she peers, tryiing to see between everyone. "Firelizards?" she asks, of noone in particular.

---*** Sparkling Adventurine Green Hatchling ***---

Darker than mint, but not as dusky as grass, the hide of this hatchling is a soft green, like crushed velvet. Stripes undulate over her hide, the two colours always separate enough to be discernable and never touching. Dark speckles, like glitter, freckle her snout and ridges, some even caressing the curve of her tail. Adventurine green, clear and pale, with veins of the darker shade that waves across her flanks, forms her wings, the colours even more impressive when she fans out her aileron.

L'bon blinks and then digs into a pocket, pulling out a pile of meat scraps, treats for Dhanuth, but perhaps coming for other use instead. Plopping onto the sand, he's careful of the eggs, hatchings and others gathered 'round.

Nareisa looks like she might throw up here and now. "Tell me about it," she says to Nerian, face pale. "He chased yesterday. Thank Faranth he didn't catch."

K'tor looks at Nareisa with a hint of alarm, and promptly gets the bloody meat and fish guts away from her, instead distributing them to folks who want to try for a lizard. "You okay, Reis?"

Kinoa fishes around in her pockets for any food to offer people and comes up with what appears to be a remnant of a redfruit. "Does anyone want to hold this?" she offers, wiggling the bit of pulp in the air.

Gildia stumbles along the beach. Sand, sand, more sand. She hits a raised patch, and starts hopping with rock-inflicted pain -- inadvertently noticing people and hatchlings. "Woww." There's a piece of meat sticking out from her pocket, that her fingers scramble for, now.

Sparkling Adventurine Green Hatchling runs over and hides behind her momma. It's bright out here. She peeks out and looks around. Then her tiny muzzle rises into the air. Food?

Byrlyn rummages in her sack and pulls out a cloth-wrapped item. Unwrapped, it appears to be the remains of several meatrolls. She grins, moving a bit closer, the crumbling treats held out in her hand.

Nareisa tries to look like she's okay. "Er.. yes," she lies, unconvincingly.

Crystalline Geode Blue Hatchling trundles over to someone holding out a piece of meat and creels. Is that, could he, please, he's hungry!

Fiona takes some of the meat being offered, finding a spot where she can crouch down and hold it out.

Lustrous White Egg shudders and rolls out of the mound of sand.

Lustrous White Egg swivels and rocks in its precarious position. Elidi looks at it and shoves it with her snout, causing it to roll completely out of the mound.

L'bon rubs the moisture on his pant leg, then holds up the still slightly slimy hacked meat strips. He peers at it and says "Herdbeast this one, and the other one there is wherry.. Mostly fresh they are, yep!"

Lustrous White Egg shivers, surface rippling under the varied batterings of an anxious hatchling inside, with the movements of a sheet of hide flapping in the wind. Through this force, cracks widen across the shell as if a hide had been left out too long and had aged and split. A final snapping noise and a hatchling emerges.

---*** Glossy Catiron Brown Hatchling ***---

Glossy, with a sheen that could never be imitated by repetitive oilings, or from dampness, this tiny brown is a fairly average shading of brown. No hints of red or gold fleck his hide, and although he is that dark brown that's deeper than mahogany, he is nowhere dusky enough to be mistaken for black. There is, however, a certain fibrous appearance to him, the same overall texture as burlap, prevalent underneath the coating of gloss. His wings are crystal, clear and untinted, save for veins of the same catiron brown as shades him.

Crystalline Geode Blue Hatchling tilts his head at L'bon's offering. There's a difference between the two? Which is best?

Byrlyn watches the little blue hatchling avidly, shifting her position, reaching up with one hand to absently brush at a few curls that have coome loose from her braid.

L'bon blinks and then swings the meat out, it waves about, nearly hitting another offering hopeful person in the face "Terribly sorry there." and he hangs the meat down for hatchling inspection.

Gildia reaches for her meat, wherry it is, desperation spurring her short running spurts along the beach. Hop, step, and she's nearly there at the back, child-like eyes affixed eagerly on the green, and another: "Wow."

Glossy Catiron Brown Hatchling peeks out from behind the mound once more, and then does a reconnaisance mission, grabbing a piece of meat from someone's hand.

Nareisa sits faaaaaaaaaar away from the firelizards, trying not to look green.

Kinoa frowns as no one seems to want to take her up on her offer of holding the sloppy redfruit. "It -looks- like meat," she points out helpfully, then shrugs and goes over to watch.

Fiona chuckles, watching the tiny creatures as they stumble awkwardly toward food.

Sparkling Adventurine Green Hatchling is of course fussy, she has the green attitude down correctly, even to the tiny uplifting of her muzzle as someone talks about her.

L'bon seperates the two strips, one in each hand. He waves the right one slowly and says "Wherry, that bird looking creature one needs to get around the feathers of, pretty good eatting." and then the left one begins to move "And his is herdbeast."

Nerian wanders over to where someone left some meat and liberates it. She starts toward Reis, then for once in her life appears to decide not to tease, and heads back to the crowd.

Crystalline Geode Blue Hatchling seems perfectly happy with what L'bon's offering. In fact, he digs in little talons and makes his way up the brownrider's leg, chirping a question at him. Yes, you'll do, can I take you home?

K'laarn walks in, dusting sand off of his trousers. Smiling, he greets a few people softly before tugging out his sack he's carrying and opening it. From it he pulls some raw meat, and with that in hand, he hunkers down next to the circle around the firelizards, close to the ground, and wiggles the raw slice of wherry in his hand.

The Crystalline Geode Blue Hatchling pauses with a questioning warble in front of L'bon, looking up at them with whirling eyes.

L'bon smiles as Crystalline Geode Blue Hatchling flies to his shoulder.

Iridescent White Egg shudders and rolls out of the mound of sand.

Iridescent White Egg moves briefly before stopping. It moves again. Stops. Moves. It can't seem to make up its mind.

Byrlyn's attention is caught by another of the little hatchlings, and she holds out the meatroll temptingly, dangling it within reach.

Iridescent White Egg rolls over slightly, swaying as if a tree in the wind. Like a leaf twisting and twining its way free at season's end, a small gold muzzle works herself loose from the shell to fall to the ground with a smashing of scallop-edged fragments as if a tree finally losing all leaves in winter's advance.

---*** Powdery Sulphur Gold Hatchling ***---

Neither metallic nor shiny in appearance, this tiny golden firelizard looks to have been cast from a block of raw sulphur. Bright yellow in colouration, her hide seems to be almost powdery in consistency, so much so that it seems at though any hand touching her would come away tinted that same yellow. A dusting of mica-like flecks on her ridges sparkle in any light, and along with the crystalline tourmaline that forms her wings, is the only departure from her otherwise uniform shading.

Nerian grins over at K'laarn. "Did Tinneth catch up with you?" Noticing the newest hatching, she holds her meat out to her.

Fiona gives a soft gasp as the tiny gold works her way free of the shell. "Oh, she's a lovely little thing," she murmurs.

Kinoa isn't officially -dangling- her meat, she's more just peering over the shoulders of those who are and if she happens to have ragged chunks of redfruit hanging from her fingers, well... "They're so little," she points out as if imparting great wisdom. From her sun-kissed spot, Luiseth merely rumbles.

K'laarn carefully leans out, one knee on the ground. He scoffs, "Your blue, catch me Nerian? I'd never allow it." He grins and then gestures out at the gold hatchling, holding out the piece of his meat to the extent of his fingers at her. Mmmmmm "See the meat, come on, nice fresh meat."

Glossy Catiron Brown Hatchling takes stock of his situation. Food there, food here, food everywhere. He wiggles around in front of the meat, mimicking their actions and hopes to attract a really good sized meat portion. He deserves it after all.

Gildia sighs in the vague direction of her wherry bit, gaze wistfully darting. Anticipating more trips and falls, she shrugs her footwear into the damp ground, regarding the meat. "If only you were bigger. But its nice." Oh, really.

L'bon stuffs meat bits into the tiny maw of the tiny blue "There, see, lots of meat choices.. I bet in time, you'll be able to tell the difference too."

Nareisa gags, and looks away. Ugh.

Glistening White Egg shudders and rolls out of the mound of sand.

Glistening White Egg wobble-spins, in tighter and tighter, ever increasingly faster, circles.

Byrlyn gives up on crouching and finally sits, cross-legged. Easier on the knees, or something. She murmurs something very softly to the little hatchlings.

Glistening White Egg resounds with low tapping noises, as if a smith's hammer struck away at some stubbornly unyielding curve of metal. With a stronger, harder knocking, the egg shivers on its base before the shell almost seems to pull away in slivers from the hatchling within.

---*** Adamantine Topaz Brown Hatchling ***---

Golden brown, with a faint overlay of yellow, marks the adamantine hide of this tiny brown hatchling. Lustrous browns wisp over his ridges and down to his tail, which is cast into hues of reddish brown. Both irregular and polygons decorate his hide, disappearing into the curve of his belly, which darkens to rich chestnut. Lustrous shades dapple the aileron of his wings, the translucent quality making the browns appear golden as light shines through them.

Sparkling Adventurine Green Hatchling sniffs at her golden sibling. Huh! Trust that big fat thing to get all her attention. She struts over to someone, and when they aren't looking, swipes a piece of bloody meat from their hand, then just for good measure takes a few other pieces as well.

K'tor has an entire bowl full of meat and fish guts and makes an excellent target. He tosses out meat randomly, laying down an unintentional trail towards him. This likely wasn't the desired effect.

Kinoa glances back over her shoulder, smiling fondly at Luiseth. "No, they're only good for scrubbing," she agrees, flicking a bit of pulp off of her fingers and onto the ground. Or perhaps onto the noses of some hatchings, she's not really paying attention. She raises her eyebrows at Nareisa. "Are you okay? You look nearly as green as Lui."

Byrlyn giggles at the little green. "Fiesty, isn't she?" she remarks to the person sitting next to her.

Glossy Catiron Brown Hatchling looks at the meat, looks at K'tor, then gobbles up -all- the pieces, running back where he came from soon as he's done. Stealth hatchling!

L'bon peers over at Nareisa "You think this is bad, you haven't seen weyrlings eating, have you?"

K'laarn daringly uses his free hand to secure more raw, glistening and slightly bloody meat. Now both hands are out, each hand wiggling the meat in what is hopefully a tempting way. He's arching out over the sand, hands gently flopping that meat in the queen's direction. And well, if she doesn't take it, "One of them will." He says determinedly, as if voicing the end of a thought.

Powdery Sulphur Gold Hatchling takes her own fine time coming out of her shell, even though its obviously gone. She stretches her limbs, one by one, then spreads out her wings to try.

Fiona lets her hand drop a bit, watching the tiny gold as she takes her own sweet time.

Gildia gets paranoid: she begins scrubbing at her meat with a shirt-tail, shining it up. Its the barbeque type, but she waves it determinedly anyway - up and down, up and down, and around, to flake the bits of acquired dirt off.

Nerian is still holding out her herdbeast toward the little gold, since she's closest, though she does watch the other hatchings.

Starr strides over from the Coastal Path.

Nareisa peers at L'bon. "Yes, when I was a weyrling. But I wasn't... er, you know... then."

Adamantine Topaz Brown Hatchling spreads out his wings and flies immediately to Nareisa's head, taking a good long look around. Ah, the world. Is it his to command? Luckily for the bluerider his talons are still hatchling soft, but the creel he lets forth...whoooooeee!

Kinoa explains helpfully to L'bon, "She's pregnant. This stuff," and she reaches down to grab a bit of meat and give it a bit of a waggle, "Makes her all nauseous." She smiles brightly at Nareisa and then, predictably, shoots a Look at K'tor. "And it's all his fault," she adds with extra sweetness.

L'bon nods "Ah.."

Coruscating White Egg shudders and rolls out of the mound of sand.

Coruscating White Egg twirls like a dancer caught in a toss at a gather.

K'tor peers at the ground. There *was* meat there. Well, someone must've gotten it. He circles around towards the tide line, trying to get in along the back of the clutch, where there are (hopefully) less people. He crouches and then lobs a few carefully placed bits in towards the brown stealth hatchling and the langorous gold. He says absently, without looking up, "Is not." It's Kinoa, he has to disagree.

Nareisa squeaks! "What's that?!?" she closes her eyes tight.

Coruscating White Egg shudders with taps from within, knocking at its inner surface with a pattern seemingly as random as the splashing appearances of stars across the sky's arcing overhead. To the tiny mind of the hatchling, this must have some reason behind it, for the egg cracks at its stressed points in a meteor shower of shards.

---*** Electrical Azurite Blue Hatchling ***---

Like the most prized specimen of azurite, the deep brilliant electric blue of this mineral form the basis for this tiny blue hatchling. His colour, although matte, is not dull, and contrasts with the clusters of dark crystals that dance down his ridges. His flanks, and tail, at first glance appear to be black, yet careful observation in the right light shows them to be a dark blue. His translucent wings, when he extends them, seem to be polished and refined like the shade of his coloursake.

Starr comes down to the beacj, tugging at her leathers with a smile. She hears a creel and looks up, one brow raised. "Eh?" she comes over to spy what's going on.

Byrlyn ooh's as another blue hatches. "My favorite color," she murmurs.

Nareisa opens one eye to see if there's still a brown firelizard on her head.

Fiona looks up from watching the tiny gold. "Starr!" She waves her meat pieces in the air towards her friend.

Adamantine Topaz Brown Hatchling flutters its wings. It's only a him! He peers over Nareisa's bangs, looking down into her eyes, blinks a few times.

Nareisa sees the firelizard looking at her, and looks back. Blink. Blinkbliink. "Hello."

Powdery Sulphur Gold Hatchling will take her own sweet time, oh yes she will. No rush here. Not at all. She's a gold, and she's looking good.

Starr turns a bright grin as she spots Fiona. "HEY! Fi! Oh it's good to see you again!" she says, moving to her friend.

Kinoa wrinkles her nose at her now-redfruity and bloody fingers and starts to wipe them off on her leathers, then thinks better of it and crouches to wipe them off on the sand. "Is too," she says, without much vim, she's just doing her greenriderly duty by disgreeing with the bronzerider.

Glossy Catiron Brown Hatchling watches where that silly human went, and follows, ducking behind legs and arms, and even ankles, snatching at any meat K'tor has. Then, of course, he hides, again!

Nerian continues holding out her meat steadily toward the sulphuric hatchling, but she's mostly paying attention to Nareisa's predicament.

Gildia peeks slightly over her shoulder, dragging over a bit of driftwood she spies, then gets to her knees to rub at that as well. Meat dangles from the compulsive bonfire-starters free hand, ready for the cooking.

Sparkling Adventurine Green Hatchling sniffs. Big, fat -ugly- golds! She takes a moment, and then looks around -- hopefully. Someone? Please?

K'tor adds another lob of meat towards the green for good measure, and then sets up making a trail towards himself. With fish guts. Well, doubtless, there are some here that would say that's only fitting, but...

Fiona chuckles, motioning for Starr to sit down. "So how're you doing?" she asks, even as she turns back toward the hatchlings. "Aren't they the sweetest little things?"

K'laarn seems to have paitence, in regards to that slow queen. And well if she's not having any -- his gaze strays to a -- is that a blue? Then back to the gold and with another rub of his fingers, the meat vibrates in the air. Tempting morsel? Hopefully so. He remains sitting on his knees -- aren't his arms getting tired? The meat quivers with a flick of his fingertips against the loose bit extending from his palm. Meat, wonderful raw, mouthwatering meat.

Kinoa flicks bits of meat off of her fingers and towards the hatchings cheerfully. Might as well let them enjoy it since she's already messy.

Nareisa opens the other eye cautiously. "Er.. eat some meat," she offers helpfully to the brown.

Starr glances. spots and gets a big grin now. The green is what she saw and she tilts her head. "Wow!" she says with a giggle, glancing at Fi with a wink. "That girl's a nice one..." she trails off and glances about thoughtfully. "can I get another one?" she suddenly wonders.

Byrlyn was watching the blue. But that forlorn little green catches her attention. "Awww," she says softly, holding out her meatroll parts toward the fragile female.

Adamantine Topaz Brown Hatchling snatches Nareisa's meat, then, with his wings spread wide, he launches himself back into the middle of the clutching, catching Kinoa's pieces of meat as he goes by.

L'bon chuckles at the hatchings, his own sleeping in the crook of his arm, well stuffed and bugling with rounded middle.

Marila strides over from the Coastal Path.

Starr spots L'bon with his own little moster and grins, looking around for the bowl of meat. When she spots it, she leans over to grab a handful. Managin, without tipping over, she carefully draws the fistfull back. Three chunks drop and splat on the ground. She makes a face and reaches down to pick up the spilt meat.

Sparkling Adventurine Green Hatchling strides up to Byrlyn. Finally someone who noticed her instead of that flipping, sharding, gold thing. It's all show anyway, she's the proper female of this bunch. Tilting her head, she reaches forward grabbing the meat from Byrlyn's hand.

K'tor wiggles a bit of raw meat in his fingers, making it jump attractively. He looks up and waves it at Marila from the other side of the clutch. "I've got a bowl if you want some, Mari." And then he hides the meat in his hand from Nareisa's sight.

Nareisa squeaks again, closing her eyes tightly.

A look of pure delight crosses Byrlyn's face, and she lets go of the meat, reaching for another piece to offer the tiny green.

In the northern sky, Ardanth soars over from the Ocean Weyrs.

In the northern sky, Ardanth flies toward the broad Landing Field below.

Kinoa wrinkles her nose at the little brown. "You're greedier than Albanth," she tells it, picking up another piece of meat and inspecting it.

K'tor informs Kinoa tartly, "Albanth is not greedy."

Marila wanders up the shore, she raises her eyebrows as she notes the cluster. She walks towards K'tor, "Oh so that's what all this is about.." She takes a bit of the meat careful to hold it away from her dress and dangles it out for the hatchlings.

Fiona grins at Starr. "Need more scrubbers for your dragon, hmm?" she teases, before dangling the piece of meat enticingly.

Kinoa looks over her shoulder and tosses a piece of meat haphazardly at K'tor. "Did you hear something?" she asks the person beside her.

Nerian sees Nareisa saved from her predicament, then gives a luxuriant stretch before lowering her herdbeast again and looking at the closer hatchlings.

Glossy Catiron Brown Hatchling is greedy though, and quickly he steals the food from K'tor, then squeals, sitting there asking for more. Feed me, feed me!

Kayjay strides over from the Coastal Path.

Starr chuckles and shrugs a shoulder. "Yeah...I could use another I do suppose. Patch has been very good, not too insistant or anything." she says, tucking one dropped piece into her fist. "Hope they don't mind a little sand." she says, before reaching for the second chunk.

K'tor snatches the meat out of the air and graciously offers it to the brown lizard begging at his knees. "Here fella. It's still good meat, even if it's from her."

Nareisa blinks, opening an eye. "It's a brown," she says. Duh.

Electrical Azurite Blue Hatchling struggles to find food in the wake of some of his more greedy siblings, and finally just gives up, plonking down on his haunches and creeling.

Kayjay looks startled as she walks across the beach. "Is half the weyr down here?"

Fiona nods. "Can't see that they would mind - they're certainly hungry," she remarks.

The Glossy Catiron Brown Hatchling pauses with a questioning warble in front of K'tor, looking up at them with whirling eyes.

Starr smiles at the little blue fondly and gestures with the newly picked up piece. "Hungry? here you go." she says, tossing it to him. She knows better than to put her fingers too close.

Kinoa snorts, picking up another piece of meat and starting to rip it into shreds. "Figures they would end up together," she says, nevermind it was a different brown.

L'bon looks up and waves to Kayjay carefully "Yep, firelizards are hatching, come and try feeding one, see if perhaps you'll get someone to help scrub those hard to reach patches."

Shadowy White Egg shudders and rolls out of the mound of sand.

Shadowy White Egg slides from its mound and almost knocks Elidi into a heap of gold hide. She snorts as she turns around, looking a little worried.

Gildia sniffs towards the creeling blue pathetically. She knows the feeling, particularly when a chunk of driftwood she's trying to collect hits her foot, just there. "Ouch." she whines, clutching for someone's shoulder.

K'tor gathers the little brown in, murmuring softly to him. His face is lit in a rather gentle smile as he tries to keep the little one from choking. "Here, not too fast." He sits back slightly from the circle, leaving his meat to Marila.

K'tor smiles as Glossy Catiron Brown Hatchling flies to his shoulder.

Kayjay giggles. "Oh.. how sweet, firelizard hatchlings." She waves to Fiona and then wanders over to the eggs. "Really?" She grabs some meat and looks around to see what the rest are doing.

Shadowy White Egg pitches and heaves, a vessel spun about on maddened seas as the hatchling inside batters furiously at the egg with the force of waves beating against a frail hull. In a splashing shatter of fragments, the shell collapses under the onslaught, as the hatchling forces out his way.

---*** Rich Iron Bronze Hatchling ***---

Rich deposits of iron ore cascade over this hatchlings hide much as it might line a volcanic pool. Irregular bumps of ferric-bronze undulate over his flanks, watery-greens embracing the spines of his neckridges, sweeping down to his tail, deepening to steely-blues. Rusting down to his belly, blue-greens mat in shaded patterns, beaded in places by bubbles and fogged with steam. The leading edges of his wings are tinged with the sunlight as it touches the water -- golden-greens shimmering in reflection.

Fiona waves to Kayjay. "Hey!" she says happily, not looking up from the tiny creatures milling around in confusion.

Nareisa mentions, now that her eyes are open again. "You got a brown, and that one's bronze." Oh joy, is she observant or what?

Sparkling Adventurine Green Hatchling looks around. Where'd her food supply go? Somewhere. Where though?

Kayjay can't help but bite back a bit of gasp as she notices the gold and green. "How do you do this?"

Byrlyn is still holding food out. "here you go," she whispers to the tiny green. "Want some more?"

L'bon waves "Take a seat, careful not, and hold out meat, that there in the bowl.. See what everyone else is doing.."

Kinoa crosses her legs underneath her and contines pulling apart the meat absently, making a little pile on the ground beneath her.

The Sparkling Adventurine Green Hatchling pauses with a questioning warble in front of Byrlyn, looking up at them with whirling eyes.

Fiona chuckles. "Don't ask me," she replies to Kayjay. "I guess you just hope they like your meat best."

Byrlyn smiles as Sparkling Adventurine Green Hatchling flies to her shoulder.

Somber White Egg shudders and rolls out of the mound of sand.

Somber White Egg dances a crazy path of circles in the sand that has trickled down when it rolled from the mound.

Marila takes up another bit of meat. She shakes her head, "Don't understand this at all." She reaches out t and makes the meat dance as she atches the hatchlings.

Kayjay giggles. "Good thing Suriath isn't here, he would be wanting all of them."

Nerian moves her herdbeast a little closer to the sulphuric one which isn't budging. "You just get the food as close to them as you can without getting your finger bitten off."

Somber White Egg rolls, fissures spreading across the shell radiating from a central pressure-point as spokes rotate out from a wheel's hub. A sharp *crack*, the noise like the breaking of a wagon's axle, and a hatchling tumbles forth, wings spread wide to halt its journey.

Rich Iron Bronze Hatchling gathers his little wings and legs together and runs over to Kinoa, grabbing a hand ful of food from her hand. You live to serve a bronze, how's that?

---*** Iridescent Bornite Green Hatchling ***---

Iridescent blues, greens, and even purples dance about on this hatchling's hide, as if reflecting the different hued dresses found at a gather. Her colour is the deep green of bornite, the blues and purples simply highlights caused by the glancing of illumination as it touches her flanks. Shimmering shades are also reflected in the delicate membranes of her wings, the clear membranes seeming to shift with every motion, almost as if they were a pool of water on which oil had spilled.

K'tor spies the bronze snitching food from Kinoa and warns him, "Careful there, boy. She doesn't like your kind, silly creature that she is." He grins at Marila and offers, "Just lure them with the meat."

Adamantine Topaz Brown Hatchling looks around. Alright. He's tried this flying thing, and the eating thing, now what's next.

Nareisa gets up all of a sudden. "I think I'm going to be..." you all know the end of that sentence, right? She rushes STRAIGHT into a kitchen worker who had been hoarding meat. Down goes Reis. Crash. Down goes meat. Fortunately Reis doesn't hit anyone, but that meat positively showers all over Nerian.

Byrlyn cradles the tiny green in her arms, ripping the meatroll into little pieces. "Eat slower, silly, you'll choke!" she admonishes, although she's got a rather silly grin on her face.

Kayjay waves a bit of meat, holding it with just her thumb and forefinger. She edges her way into the group of people, getting the giggles as she watches. She waves the meat in front of the gold, smiling encouragingly. "You are a pretty little lady aren't you? Hungry?"

Starr glances at the others with a smile, then tosses another chunk of meat to the lonesome looking blue. "I hope he's allright." she tells Fiona, before looking off to the newly hatched. They, too, are tossed some chunks of the meat. That done, she waits with a handful of meat. The buffet bar is open...in her hand.

Kinoa scowls at the bronze as it darts closer to her. "At least you don't have a rider," she tells it as it snatches away her meat. "Then you'd be insufferable." Grudge, much?

Fiona nods, watching the blue...and then the gold...and then that newly hatched bronze.

Electrical Azurite Blue Hatchling wiggles himself around in his little hollow. He's here all alone, and where's his attention? With his siblings, that's what.

L'bon ducks the flying meat, only getting splattered with some of the juices. "I hope I have enough time to get dry after a quick bathing and scrubbing and put my new riding leathers on.."

Marila mutters under her breath, "Right.. just lure them with the meat.

Marila mutters under her breath, "Right.. just lure them with the meat." SHe shakes her head and keeps bobbing the meat not wanting to think about what is dripping down her fingers.

Nerian yipes and jumps as she begins getting pelted. It takes several seconds before she's back to looking at hatchlings, and now she's shaking just a bit.

K'tor just turns a rather sweet and winning smile on Kinoa, before looking back at his little brown, which is still greedily devouring anything he can get his talons on.

Kayjay looks across at the other little beasties, and grabs some more meat, ending up with dangling meat in front of the gold and a green, speaking in low gentle tones."Pretty scary, huh, all these pink things talking to you and throwing things at you?"

Gildia smiles toward Nareisa's plight, then turns back to concentrate on her wherry bit, occasionally sneaking a glance at the blue. Between checking her hurt foot and the surrounding people, she's muttering in an annoyed tone.

Adamantine Topaz Brown Hatchling makes his way over to Marila, and sits there for a moment. But he's the dangerous one, and he's looking longingly at Marila's head.

Starr notes the little blue has yet to note the meat she tosses his way. So once more she leans forward, picks up her tossed bit, and holds it out. "Here little one." she coos softly.

Byrlyn scootches back from the rest of the eggs, now that the little green in her arms is finally stated.

Powdery Sulphur Gold Hatchling bugles, a little tinny, but it's still there, and launches herself towards the walking meat person, landing on a shoulder, curling tail, a little tight maybe, around the neck, and sqwaking into Nerian's ear.

Kinoa tries her darndest to ignore K'tor, though she does toss a bit of meat towards the bronze, perhaps rewarding it for not belonging to anyone so irritating.

Nareisa gets up. "Oh, I'm so SORRY!" is it possible for someone to look concurrently red and pale-sick green? Well if it is, that's Reis right now.

F'loran walks over from the Coastal Path.

Kayjay continues to speak in low tones, caressing and tender. "Come along little one, you look lonely." She dangles a little of the meat in front of the green. "Hungry too, I bet,"

Marila tilts her head a touch not noticing the gaze that is being fastened on her head. Her hair flicks to the side as she continues to bounce the meat. She bites her bottom lip.

Fiona laughs as the tiny gold decides to go for the meatiest person there. "Guess she picked you," she calls to Nerian, before turning back to the little hatchlings. "Whos' hungry?" she croons.

Adamantine Topaz Brown Hatchling divebombs -- first for the meat, then for the head. Then, exactly as with Nareisa, he looks over Marila's forehead into the greenrider's eyes.

Nerian eeps and puts her hand (the one with the meat in it) to her ear. In the strangled kind of voice one uses when a sharp-taloned thing is by your neck, she says "Eat this. Please?"

F'loran just strides on over to watch, really - hands in his pockets, amused little smile on his face. Amused at both 'lizards and their counterparts, apparently. Nerian's remark draws a soft little laugh from the Brownling.

Powdery Sulphur Gold Hatchling takes the offered piece of meat! Hey, look! she warbles to her siblings, I got a walking human meat object!

Kayjay tempts Iridescent Bornite Green Hatchling with a little tidbit of meat. "Suriath would just love you." She giggles softly. "Beautiful little one."

The Powdery Sulphur Gold Hatchling pauses with a questioning warble in front of Nerian, looking up at them with whirling eyes.

Marila stumbles back a bit startled as she finds herself a perch, "Ohhh dear.." She reaches up to offere it another tiny bit of meat.

Nerian smiles as Powdery Sulphur Gold Hatchling flies to her shoulder.

Iridescent Bornite Green Hatchling takes a step or to towards Kayjay. Tentative step, after tentative step. For me? Really?

Fiona watches the bronze on Marlia's head, her hand outstretched still with the meat, but not paying any attention to who it might be dangling by.

Kayjay waves the meat again, stepping a little closer. "Come and get it."

Rich Iron Bronze Hatchling snatches a few pieces of meat from a few people and looks around. OK. Let's get this over with. Who's going to serve him all his days?

Starr glances back at Kayjay and smiles. "Good, a diffrent green to keep his attentions!" she teases, then turns back to tempting the little blue. "Why is he just sitting there?"

Kinoa has built up another little pile in front of her after the bronze so rudely snatched hers before. It's just sitting there, unguarded, which is probably why it was so easy for him to steal earlier.

Nareisa blinks. "You got a gold, Nerian," oh she's just the person you need to tell you things.

Kayjay crouches on her haunches. "Come along sweet thing.. you are hungry and you know it."

Fiona looks back down, her eyes catchiing sight of the bronze. "Look at him," she murmurs, nudging Starr. "Doesn't he look like a handful?"

Iridescent Bornite Green Hatchling runs over to Kayjay, and at the last moment, opens her wings, and lands in the brownrider's lap. Meat. Very good.

F'loran glances back Barracks-ward, and hrms softly. Rather abruptly, he turns around and jogs off...

Rich Iron Bronze Hatchling can't help it, he just has to have that person there. Kinoa. She looks like she'll love him, and pat him, and keep him warm, oh, and name himself something too.

Kayjay grins and stuffs the meat into the hatching's maw. "Here you go sweetling.. What a sweetheart." She winces as the sweetheart almost takes her finger with the meat.

Starr glances at Fiona and snorts. "Oh yes, which means he certainly isn't for me! Besides, this little blue is prettier."

Fiona chuckles. "Yes he is," she agrees. "Quite lovely."

F'loran walks toward the Coastal Path.

Adamantine Topaz Brown Hatchling takes the meat, and then gets comfy.

The Adamantine Topaz Brown Hatchling pauses with a questioning warble in front of Marila, looking up at them with whirling eyes.

Gildia scratches her head. "Pretty." she comments reluctantly on the hatchlings, and creeps forward on her knees, uttering a quiet appeal. "Meat, want it?" Or her unstarted fire can have it.

Marila smiles as Adamantine Topaz Brown Hatchling flies to her shoulder.

Shilarra strides across the sand and oohs as she notices the clutch.

Kinoa eyes the bronze suspiciously, then nudges a piece of meat closer to him. It's an experiment.

Kayjay gingerly cradles the Iridescent Bornite Green Hatchling into the crook of her arm and continues to feed her, talking constantly in low soothing tones.

The Iridescent Bornite Green Hatchling pauses with a questioning warble in front of kayjay, looking up at them with whirling eyes.

Marila takes the hatchling from her head, "Here this is better.." She adjust him onto her arms and starts to stuff him with bits of meat.

Kayjay smiles as Iridescent Bornite Green Hatchling flies to her shoulder.

Electrical Azurite Blue Hatchling is still sat here. Alone. Unwanted. Sniff. Kleenex?

Rich Iron Bronze Hatchling takes the meat. Another step. Then another. Where's the rest?

Fiona watches the little blue, and leans forward with her dangling meat.

Nareisa points out "That blue looks all sad." She's so damn helpful.

Byrlyn gives a soft sigh as the little green in her arms finally falls asleep with a rather loud belch. "Well." she says after a moment's pause. What to do now.

Kayjay peers up the little beauty on her shoulder. "I am glad I got my leathers on, you sweet thing!"

Shilarraoffers the little blue a kleenex and some meat, and then smiles at the bronze, offering it a piece as well.

Electrical Azurite Blue Hatchling turns his head ever so slightly, and croons at the dangling meat. Is that for him?

Starr glances up with a smile cast Kayjay's way. "Looks like you caught yourself a green." she says with a wink. Then turns back to the blue. "Maybe he doesnm't notice?" she says in idle conversation. Scooting closer, she moves to shove the chunk in her fingers right under Electrical Azurite Blue's nose. "Here! Stop laying it on so thick and eat." she says with a giggle.

Fiona grins as the tiny blue turns. "Come on. Nice and juicy," she tempts, giggling as Starr moves forward to tempt him too.

L'bon grins and Starr "Well, there will always be my Starrth too."

Kayjay smiles softly. 'Avan.. I think that is a perfect name."

Kinoa picks up another piece of meat and sets it down in front of the bronze. The eventual outcome of the path isn't yet apparent but lays down a couple in a row. She's got a whole little pile to choose from. "You can't have them all at once even if you are a bronze," she tells it. "At least one of your kind has to learn to be patient."

Shasta picks her way along the beach, progress slow as she's holding a toddler by one hand, stopping at every shell or stone along the sand.

Starr looks up at L'bon with a giggle and a grin. "Croooooon!" she says, batting her eyes. Then looks down to the blue with a smile.

Electrical Azurite Blue Hatchling takes a little wiggle and stands from his mound of sand, then runs up to sit in front of Fiona. He takes the meat, gently, and then wiggles himself in the sand again.

Shilarra wiggles the meat in front of the bronze temptingly, looking quite entranced with his beauty.

Rich Iron Bronze Hatchling snorts. Who says he has to be patient. But isn't she a good little human. She has this waiting thing down just right!

Fiona awwws, giving a little laugh. "Such a polite little one you are," she says softly. She reaches out with another piece of meat. "Want some more?"

Nareisa mentions "Starr, you sound like a firelizard that's.... ew, I feel sick."

Marila shifts and blinks. She waves as she turns. Her arm laden with a fat bellied hatchling.

Kayjay's eyes shine as she continues to feed the little green. She smiles to Telinda. "Thank you."

Nerian gives a hangman smile at Shasta as she tries to loosen her hatchling's chokehold. Once she has air again, she waves at the brownrider.

Electrical Azurite Blue Hatchling wants more, moremoremore! He creels and looks up at Fiona. Please?

Starr watches the little blue go to Fiona and sits back, chuckling. "Look at that!" she tells her friend with a smirk Her gaze turns to the other hatchling in a pondering fashion. Especially now that little blue has a friend to assist him.

Telinda giggles at Kayjay, "Umm, no need. Really. Honestly!"

Kinoa snorts right back at the wandering hatchling. She's got that down pat, disbelieving all things bronze.

Fiona is glad to oblige. She holds the meat right in front of the tiny blue's nose. "Here you are," she murmurs, leaning forward even more.

Electrical Azurite Blue Hatchling gives up with the patience thing and makes his decision, swooping down onto Kinoa's shoulder. Right. Now you can carry me everywhere too!

The Rich Iron Bronze Hatchling pauses with a questioning warble in front of Kinoa, looking up at them with whirling eyes.

Kayjay laughs and grabs the green as she abruptly burps and falls asleep, tumbling into the crook of her new pet's arm.

Kinoa smiles as Rich Iron Bronze Hatchling flies to her shoulder.

Shasta catches the smiles and waves, and as little Khysta drops her well padded behind into the sand for a closer inspection of a shell, she manages to return both. With ease, the brownrider scoops up the child, shell and all, and hurries the last ways towards the gathering.

Starr stands now and stretches, jerking at her leathers to smooth them out again. "I better go check things, I'll see you around Fi." she says, turning to head back the way she came.

Kayjay grins. "I would be offended if I didn't know better."

Starr walks toward the Coastal Path.

The Electrical Azurite Blue Hatchling pauses with a questioning warble in front of Fiona, looking up at them with whirling eyes.

Kayjay sighs. "Suriath wants a peek a this green beauty so I had better head out."

Kayjay strides over to the Coastal Path.

Fiona nods to Starr, looking up briefly toward her friend. "Goodby-" she starts to call, but she missed. And then there's this cute little blue sitting there, creeling, and well, he needs to be fed...

Fiona smiles as Electrical Azurite Blue Hatchling flies to her shoulder.

Kinoa's scowl threatens to become permanent but then the darned bronze looks at her and she gets that familiar mushy face that everyone gets when they impress anything. Quickly, lest anyone notice, she scoops up the bronze hatchling and tucks it away and starts stuffing it with meat. "Okay, I was wrong, -you're- greedier than Albanth," she murmurs.

L'bon nods and carries the sleeping hatching out.

L'bon walks toward the Coastal Path.

Nerian hmmms. "Maybe I can try some of that bubbly wine."

Dragon> Ceruth bespoke Southern Weyr with << All weyrlings and their riders please form up at the lakeside meadow. >>

Marila tilts her head and pushes her hand through her hair as she starts to walk towards the barracks, "Ohhh I almost forgot.."

Marila walks toward the Coastal Path.

Telinda looks around, "Oh gosh, it's that time, we're going to be late!" she calls out. "Let's go! Quickly now. Elidi, I'm going to kill you later!"

Nerian says "Don't kill her too hard."

Nerian walks toward the Coastal Path.

Fiona chuckles, getting to her feet awkwardly, while still stuffing food into the greedy maw of the tiny blue. "Come on, silly. I'm supposed to be there too!"

Telinda looks around, "Everyone, if you'd like to join us, it's this way" she adds, walking up the beach.
