Marila shifts her basket of linens to the other hip, she rolls her head about
on her sholders. Telinda waves as she wanders out of the clearing, "Evening all, anyone
want to touch eggs?" Stooooopid, question Tel! Theida nods, "And I'm no where near done. I fixed 10 of those chairs
today and there's still more. Thankfully at this hour, I don't need to do
any more." As the weyrwoman approaches, Theida gives a polite nod and
smile. Marila nearly drops the basket at Telinda's words, "Touch them? Really?
Touch them?" K'laarn glances at Telinda and says, " Nerian says "I do! Can I trade Tinneth in?" K'laarn glances at Telinda and says, "You must of read my mind. I was
just going to come ask you if we should do that." He grins widely, "And
if Tiarnath was in a mood to accept it." Imara turns and smiles brightly at Telinda. "Egg touching? Sure!" Theida smiles, though she is in no way surprised, "Egg touching... Sure
thing!" Telinda snorts, "Tia's always in the mood, the sooner, the.." she
breaks off, blanching a little, "better" she concludes with a forced
smile. She grins at Nerian, "You can come, but expect to be tripped up
by a certain blue if he thinks you'll trade him in!" Shasta walks over from the Weyrhall. Nerian says "That's the problem. I would just like a nice, quiet, gentle
blue who'll sleep wherein Tinneth would simply be making mischief." Telinda smiles, "What happens if you get one that's worse, Nerian?"
she asks, "Well, if we're going to look, we should go!" Tinneth gives a beatific warble. Nerian says "Faranth forbid such a thing could hatch!" Telinda grins, "Oh, I think if there was one, Nerian, it'd find you
without a doubt!" Nerian says "Two dragons, and one worse? I don't know if they'd leave
Southern standing." Marila looks about for some place to dump the basket of laundry. With a quick
dash she places the basket down near the door of the weyrhall and pushes it
through. Tinneth whuffles his rider patronizingly. Telinda winks at Nerian, "Thank Faranth we won't have to find out."
She claps her hands together, "Right, come along now, Nerian, join us
if you will!" and heads off. You walk over to the lakeside meadow. Imara walks over from the landing field. Dragon> Tinneth bespoke Southern Weyr with << silly rider. >> Marila strides over from the landing field. Nerian strides over from the landing field. Nerian walks toward the Entrance to the Hatching Grounds. Marila hurries behind Telinda. You walk toward the Entrance to the Hatching Grounds. Entrance to the Hatching Sands - Southern Weyr Imara strides over from the Lakeside Meadow. Marila strides over from the Lakeside Meadow. You walk toward the sizzling hot sands. Sizzling Hot Sands - Southern Weyr(#339RJa$) Imara strides over from the entrance to the hatching cavern. Marila walks over from the entrance to the hatching cavern. Marila steps trepidatiously on the sands, after all this is her first time
on them. Her eyes water as she feels the heat through her thin sandles. Theida strides over from the entrance to the hatching cavern. Telinda smiles and gestures to the circle of eggs, "Please, walk around,
touch, listen, get used to the size of the eggs. Ask me any questions you
can think of." Marila walks towards the clutch, she swallows nervously. Imara steps onto the sands and stands there for a moment, gazing at the mound
of eggs. She doesn't stand still for long, and while keeping an eye on Tiarnath,
she approaches a blue and sandy-brown egg. K'laarn strides over from the entrance to the hatching cavern. K'laarn mosies on over and says appologetically, "Sorry, D'tenik stopped
me to inquire about a few things." He gives by way of explanation. Theida comes upon a milky agate egg first, gently letting her hand graze
over the surface. She tried to be as cool as possible about the whole thing,
but she nervously gnaws at her lower lip. "So warm..." she mutters
to herself, pressing her palm against the hot shell. Marila walks towards a swamp-like egg, her hand reaching out carefully. Her
fingers trailing over the surface, "Oh my.." Tiarnath dips her head, nuzzling her rider affectionately, and warbles, her
tone that of semi-concerned. Telinda giggles, a rare, high pitched laugh,
and shakes her head, murmering something back to the gold. Imara leans down and presses her hand gently on the egg. "Wow,"
she breathes softly, "they're so much harder..." She places her
other hand on the egg, pausing briefly in that position. "And warmer,
too." Rnayth rumbles pleasantly, tail twitching in excited anticipation as his
eggs are fawned upon. Marila tucks a curl behind her ear, "Are they?" Telinda nods, as she turns slightly, one hand still on the gold's muzzle,
"They're certainly harder, and still getting harder every day!" Theida reluctantly moves on, coming upon the next egg, slightly right of
the first. Her eyes widen a bit at the splendoor of this golden purple egg.
She doesn't approach it, her eyes drifting warily to Tiarnath. Marila sighs, "Wish I'd been able to touch them when they were softer,"
she grins again as she touches the egg, "No matter though." K'laarn smiles too, looking happy as well. He turns to Telinda, listening
to her discuss the eggs. From the Galleries, Nerian waves down cheerfully at the people on the sizzling
sands close to the dangerous queen. Dragon> Southern Weyr sense that Tiarnath neeners, << I have a secret!
>> Dragon> Southern Weyr sense that Tinneth perks up. << Do you now?
>> Dragon> Southern Weyr sense that Zarynth eyes Tiarnath warily, <<
Are you going to tell us the secret, or just tease us with it? >> Marila moves across to another egg, deep and mossy green with a litte purple
and brown. She touches her nails to it then full palms it. Dragon> Tiarnath bespoke Southern Weyr with << Depends. What do
I get if I tell you my secret?! >> Imara turns slightly, finding another blue-tinted egg. She smiles as she
stares at the colors and patterns. "Aren't they beautiful?" she
asks the other candidates. Marila murmurs, "Never thought I'd see anything so pretty upclose." Dragon> Tinneth bespoke Southern Weyr with << I'll trip my rider
for you. >> Telinda chuckles, slightly, moving over to take K'laarn's hand in hers, "Amazing,
aren't they? Of course, we're pretty biased, but even so." Dragon> Tiarnath bespoke Southern Weyr with << You do that anyway,
Tinneth! >> Dragon> Tinneth bespoke Southern Weyr with << oh. I was hoping you
forgot. >> Dragon> Tiarnath bespoke Southern Weyr with << I would if you'd
let me forget! >> Dragon> Tinneth bespoke Southern Weyr with << you can forget now!
>> Imara follows a line down the egg with one finger. She strokes the surface,
gazing intently at it. "Hmm. I wonder what color this one will be,"
she mumbles, obviously not aware that she had spoken aloud. Marila giggles as she touches another egg, "Almost looks like its cloudy." Dragon> Tiarnath bespoke Southern Weyr with << You just reminded
me, how can I forget?! >> Craw strides over from the entrance to the hatching cavern. Theida's next visit is with a misty blue and purple egg, framed with flaming
reds and and yellows. She approaches this one with more confidence, resting
both hands on the seemingly delicate shell. After a glance at Tiarnath and
Telinda, she gently press her cheek again the warm surface. K'laarn smiles and grins as smugly as Telinda does, before glancing out over
the sands, "Would you just look at these fine eggs Rnayth helped produce?
He flew Tiarnath well." He says with swelled ego. The twitch is there but Craw doesn't talk. Nope, he just pokes his head around
the place and then at the large gold mother dragon. The young candidate doesn't
really seem to register the WeyrWoman's words at first, but eventually he
does goes to one of the eggs. Marila glances towards the gold, she bites her bottom lip, she then carefully
touches a fingertip to it. Rnayth rumbles of a sudden, out of clear still silence. Tiarnath cants her head down to examine Marila and -her- egg. Yep, have no
doubt, this egg is highly guarded, but at Marila's touch, Telinda quirks an
eyebrow and raises a finger at Tiarnath. Marila blinks up at Tiarnath, "Ulp.." She does touch another finger
to it very lightly. Craw jumps at the rumble and then starts to back up slowly, eyeing the large
bronze and just wondering if the large teeth are going to chomp him in half.
Seeing nothing else Craw heads to one of the eggs and stays really, really
close to it. Telinda smiles, "It's ok, Marila, if you want to touch it, she'll let
you, but she won't enjoy it!" Imara moves on to a rainbow-colored egg. She puts both hands on it's surface,
keeping them there and staring wonderingly at it. Marila nods to Telinda, "Thank you ma'am." She trails her hand
over the surface of the egg, "Its a beautiful egg Tiarnath." Tiarnath warbles, a little mollified by the sentiment although of course
it's beautiful! Marila spends another moment with the egg, she then moves further along towards
another cluster of the eggs. Telinda shoves a pile of sand into a mound in front of her with her foot,
causing Tiarnath to peer down at it. "No, it's not meant to be anything,
Tia, and no, I'm not hatching eggs now." She giggles, pushing her hair
back, "See, if I do this, it's a sandhold!" From the Galleries, Nerian has disconnected. Imara glances at Telinda before returning her attention to the egg in front
of her. She moves her hands down the sides, being careful not to get her finger
too close to the burning sands. K'laarn watches Telinda with warm amusement then suddenly grasps her around
the middle and starts to tug her close. "Did I ever tell you how wonderful
you are Telinda?" he says with obvious and loud affection -- has any
other weyrleader treated his weyrwoman so in public? Telinda thwaps K'laarn's hand, "Unhand me, you fool!" she says,
twisting out of the way, as Tiarnath puts her head between the two and snorts
at K'laarn, sending a warm gust of air over his head. Tiarnath> I bespoke Rnayth with << He should be careful. >> Theida peers around a large egg, watching the antics of the weyrleader and
weyrwoman. A faint laugh comes over her features. Marila raises her eyebrows at the weyr pair from behind another blue tinged
egg. She blinks. Craw watches the weyrleaders play and then looks relived, not that he really
cares one way or another if they get along, but as long as they are distracted
there dragons won't bite him in two. There is also one other noticable change,
Craw's twitching has spotted, but why? K'laarn laughs and backs off and grins at Telinda. "I am a fool."
He agrees easily, "A fool for you." He grins, "I could break
out into song, like a harper, but I'm probably tone deaf, though I whistle
passibly." Dragon> All sense that Mallarth rumblegreets Dragon> Tiarnath senses that Rnayth snorts in reply. << He likes
to be exhuberant. He loves her. >> Telinda backs away from K'laarn, peering around Tiarnath's head, "Crazy
fool!" she snorts, "And don't break into song, Katolnar's bad enough
without two of you!" She pats Tiarnath and then wanders out to the eggs. Tiarnath> I bespoke Rnayth with << He needs to be careful. >> K'laarn grins and wiggles his eyebrows. "Crazy too. Who wouldn't be
with a weyrmate like you to drive him into insanity." He jokes, then
advances toward Telinda in teasing threat. "Can't I have a kiss or something?"
he whispers, glancing once toward the candidates. "They won't see if
we go over here!" He gestures to Rnayth's flank beside Tiarnath. "They
won't miss us! Come on!" Rnayth swishes his tail, turning his head briefly
to nuzzle Tiarnath. Dragon> Tiarnath senses that Rnayth sounds amused. << He cannot
break her or anything. He is always careful with her. >> Tiarnath snorts at Rnayth, swishing sand at him -- kicking sand in his face?
Maybe! Telinda shakes her head, eyeing the candidates for possibly sanctuary,
"Aren't those eggs pretty?" she says, looking directly at them --
first Craw, then Marila, then Imara. Tiarnath> Rnayth senses that Tiarnath repeats -- bronzes can be so thick
<< He needs to be careful! >> Dragon> All sense that Tiarnath warbles to the Honshu bronze! Dragon> Tiarnath senses that Rnayth defends his rider << He hasn't
hurt her. He has done nothing to break her. >> Dragon> All sense that Rnayth rumbles disgruntledly. Imara lets her hand linger on the rainbow egg as she moves to a reddish egg.
She looks at the weyrleaders for a moment, but quickly turns her eyes back
to the egg in front of her. She gazes at it, sighing softly, and nods. "Yes,
they're all gorgeous." When Telinda speaks towards Craw the lad pauses for a second from whatever
he was doing and looks guilty. An eye is sent towards the large dragons before
the lad shakes his head but not a single word is spoken. Tiarnath> I bespoke Rnayth with << But he could >> K'laarn lets out a sigh. "Alright, alright. A man knows when he's not
wanted." Marila nods, "Oh yes'm..." She runs her fingers over the blood-red
strips..."Lovely.." Dragon> Tiarnath senses that Rnayth becomes a little iritated. <<
He never has. It is not something to worry over or be concerned about. >> K'laarn turns his attention bemusedly on the candidates. "Have an egg
that is favorite?" he booms, presumeably asking all of the candidates. Tiarnath> I bespoke Rnayth with << Yes it is! >> Marila peers over the top of the egg with the red splash, "I um sort
of like this one, but there are some amazing looking eggs in the clutch." Dragon> Tiarnath senses that Rnayth draws away, obviously unhappy and
displeased with your comments. Tiarnath> I bespoke Rnayth with << Males, all the same, can't see
what's dangling under your nose! >> Rnayth busies himself abruptly with the rearranging of one of the eggs. He
rolls it from a hollow of sand and then repositions it, using foreclaws and
muzzle to nudge it around. Thankfully none of the candidates was touching
it. Dragon> Tiarnath senses that Rnayth snorts disgruntlement and deigns to
comment. Imara looks up at all the entire mound and shrugs. "I don't think I
could choose a favorite. They are all so pretty." Craw didn't say anything 'cause well Craw doesn't say anything, around dragons
that is. When Rnayth starts to rearange the eggs thou, Craw gets worried,
very worried and starts to wonder just how safe he is. Dragon> Tiarnath senses that Rnayth seems to be sticking to the same s
tubborn feelings though of incredelity and loyalty. K'laarn would never hurt
the Weyrwoman, he even shares a picture or two of some of K'laarn's gentle
moments with Telinda. Tiarnath> Rnayth senses that Tiarnath shows the moment of Telinda giving
birth. Nothing else. Oh, and a flash of a baby Telaarn. Dragon> Tiarnath senses that Rnayth shows the bigger, fun, often dirty
Telaarn. << He wouldn't hurt him, either. >> He growls softly. Tiarnath> I bespoke Rnayth with << Oh, you fool, she's making sand
mounds, don't you see?! >> Marila hesitantly touches a smokey grey egg, she watches it curiously. Telinda grins at Craw, "It's ok" she whispers, "He won't come
over here!" Dragon> Tiarnath senses that Rnayth looks confused. << I saw her
make one with her foot. So? >> Dragon> Tiarnath senses that Rnayth obviously sees no importance in this. Tiarnath> I bespoke Rnayth with << What does making sand mounds
mean? >> K'laarn guffaws and says "Rnayth's worse than a gold sometimes I swear.
He likes moving these eggs about just as much, if not more than Tiarnath does." Dragon> Rnayth bespoke Tiarnath with << That she wants to play with
the sand? >> Tiarnath> I bespoke Rnayth with << Why don't you tell you rider,
see if he can get it? You obviously can't! >> Telinda grins, "Tiarnath just gets bored, way too easily!" she
admits. Dragon> Rnayth bespoke Tiarnath with << Fine, I will! >> Theida steps back from the egg she's been caressing, now scanning as much
of the clutch as she can, "A favorite? I can't imagine having a favortie
among so many beautiful eggs." Of course, the thought runs through her
head, 'If I impress, my favorite egg wil be the one that housed my future
lifemate...' But what candidate truly dares to admit they might impress... Craw didn't hear that whisper 'cause he made sure that he could be far away
so he could whisper to the egg and not be heard. Craw does see Telinda's lips
move but doesn't hear anything so he lightly bunks his head as if he is trying
to shake sand out. Telinda giggles, turning away from Craw, then nodding to Theida, "I
never went near Tia's egg, so I have no idea, I managed to get a small fragment
of her shell though, only a small piece, the rest got trampled in the rain." K'laarn is silent for a moment, head tilting and then he laughs, bearing
a toothy smile. He just shakes his head, bewildered looking. "Telinda.
Rnayth's all of a sudden babbling about how he doesn't think its important
that you made a mound in the sand with your foot, but Tiarnath does."
He chuckles. "Dragons can be darn right peculiar sometimes." He
comments. He then gets distracted by Theida, "Now that is a -safe- answer." Marila presses her hand onto another egg, "I never thought that their
could be so many eggs out hear at one time." She tilts her head some
of her curls falling into her eyes. Theida's eyebrows bounce, "Note only is it safe, unoffending and polite,
it's also the truth." Telinda grins, "There have been more, Marila" she says, ignoring
K'laarn, "As we come from a interval to a pass, there have been records
of 50 or so eggs on the sands at a time." Imara makes her way back to the first blue egg she touched. She puts one
hand on it, and one hand on the egg next to it. She looks back and forth between
the the two, as if trying to look at them both at once. K'laarn glances back to Telinda, and ecieves no reply so brushes it off.
He shrugs and then glances back to the candidates. Dragon> Rnayth bespoke Tiarnath with << He doesn't consider it especially
important. They have made sand castles and mounds on the beach all the time.
>> Tiarnath> I bespoke Rnayth with << Well, he'll find out in a few
months just how important it all is. >> Dragon> Rnayth bespoke Tiarnath with << Few months? Why would a
sand mound that will disappear under our own eggs in a very short time, mean
anything that long from now? >> What is that, is that Craw making lip movements when he is near the egg.
Well it can't be 'cause the lad has promiced to stay quiet and with the threat
of dragons chewing him in half the candidate would stay quiet, right? ;) Tiarnath> I bespoke Rnayth with << You obviously are too thick to
either ask Telinda yourself, or look for yourself, so that's it. End of conversation.
Just tell your rider to be gentle with her. >> Marila pushes her hands through her hair as she examines an egg, "Never
seen something with so much purple.." Dragon> Tiarnath senses that Rnayth looks very perplexed. << Look
at what? >> Then a sigh. << I will tell him all of this. I do
not see the point. >> He withdraws. Telinda smiles, "Some of them really have some stunning colours over
their surfaces, strange really to wonder where it all comes from." "A good flight?" Marila queries as she strokes the oddly regal
egg. Telinda laughs, "Possibly, one would think anyway." K'laarn is quiet for some time, glancing up at Rnayth as if listening to
something the bronze is saying. His brows draw down in a slight furrow, as
if attempting to comprehend things. Suddenly, its as if he's been struck by
lightening, his face lights up so with incredelity. "What?" He asks,
startled -- loud. "A few months .. be gentle, pictures of Telaarn?"
he mumbles this. Then again, repeated, "a few months?" then a roar,
"TELINDA!!!" He rounds on the weyrwoman and advances on her, "Why
did you not tell me?!" He begins to make a scene. "You're pregnant!??"
He questions, voice filled with disbelief. It seems as if he's forgotten about
the candidates in the need to know situation. Theida is in the process of hugging one of the smaller eggs, her cheek pressed
against the warm, colorful shell, her arms reaching as far as they can around
it. She closes her eyes breifly, just enjoying the heat of the incubating
egg. Telinda's hand goes to her hip, and she glares at K'laarn, "I tried,
would you listen? No! So there!" Marila peers at K'laarn and Telinda, she blinks, "Gosh they suddenly
remind me of my parents.." K'laarn suddenly bursts into laughter, his entire face glowing with pleasure.
He once again tries to catch Telinda up. "We're going to have a baby!"
he crows, as if proud of his virility. Then, "And you did not. You tried
to -hint- It is not the same thing at all!" Telinda thwaps K'laarn on the back, "Put me down you oaf! I'm not to
be spun around or I'll...umm, put me down, -now- K'laarn" she says, blanching
white. Imara looks down at the sand, contemplating something. With a shrug, she
sits down cross-legged in front of one of the eggs... and immediately jumps
back up with a little shriek. "That is /hot/," she states the obvious. K'laarn starts to say one thing, then abruptly, gently slides Telinda down
to the sand. "Alright." He says, a hint of laughter in his voice,
though he's solemn. "You ok?" Thats when he realizes the candidates
are still there. He grins bashfully and says, loudly. "I'm going to be
a father -- again!" Marila nods, "Definitely reminds me of ma and pop." She shifts
on the sand and touches yet another egg, eggs eggs everywhere. Imara looks at the weyrleaders and smiles. "Congrats!" Telinda nods slowly, "I will be, need to stop my head from spinning,
and my stomach from reeling!" she exclaims. K'laarn says happily. "I hope we have a little girl this time that looks
just like you Telinda." his voice makes him sound utterly besotted. Telinda rolls her eyes, muttering, "Should never of told you!"
and moves over to Imara, smiling her thanks, "He'll calm down, eventually"
she remarks to the candidate. Marila shakes her head, "I don't think so.." She touches her cheek
to one of the eggs and blinks, hmm. K'laarn gazes around rather dreamily and says "Hey, we could name her
Kylinda. That'd be a pretty name. Kylinda? What do you think Tel?" He
realizes she's no longer nearby then says more loudly, "Telinda? What
do you think about Kylinda?" Telinda shakes her head, "K'laarn, it'll prolly be a boy, so just leave
the names until it's born!" She nods to Marila, "Hear anything?" Imara smiles at Telinda, "Maybe. I remember my ma telling me about my
da when my oldest sister was born. Sounds like what he's doing," she
gestures to K'laarn. Marila shakes her head, "Thought I did but I think its just the weyrleader. Telinda giggles, "Aye, he's loud enough to be heard on the red star!"
she murmers to the candidate, grinning across at Imara. Imara runs a hand across one of the eggs. "How much harder are they
going to get before they hatch?" she asks Telinda. K'laarn seems to wake up and then says "I think they're as hard as they're
going to get. Now they just cook and the dragon forms." He chuckles.
"That'll take a while." Telinda lets her hand spread across the surface of the egg in front of her,
gently caressing it, "As K'laarn says, I think that's as hard as they
get, but they will get hotter yet!" Imara sighs, staring down at the egg. "I don't know how I'll be able
to wait. Even if I don't Impress, it'll be nice to see the newborn dragons." Marila chuckles, "Yeah it will be. Probably pretty things.." Theida nods, in agreement with Imara and Marila. She's released her egg,
but conitnues to pet it. Telinda sighs, "I'm tired, we should probably call this a night!"
she says, looking out over the candidates. Marila glances to Telinda, "We should?" Telinda smiles, "Unless K'laarn wants to stay out here with you, then
yes, we can come back tomorrow." Imara strokes one of the eggs before standing up. She gazes at the mound
for a moment before turning towards the exit. K'laarn blinks, then says "Wot? Oh no. Its much too hot. We should go
into the Weyrhall and drink some water and such." Craw stands up and heads out quickly. Craw walks down the tunnel. Marila nods to the weyrleaders, "Aye...oh Faranth.. the laundry..." She pats one egg one last time and then Marila scurries off the sand. Marila walks down the tunnel. Imara walks down the tunnel. Theida walks down the tunnel.
