Telinda
runs up from the meadow, hands flapping about like she's exasperated over something.
Spotting the Weyrwoman, she dashes over, "EEllllliiiii!" she wails
R'lien strides over from the Northern Weyrs. R'lien jogs in, looking over to Revarth first to figure out what startled
him out of his nap. Eliora blinks and turns from her chat with a younger lad, "What's wrong?
Telinda?" that is Telinda, isn't it? Eliora nods, it's Telinda, but she's screaming! "Tel! What's going on?
Calm down!" she holds her hands out to the other woman. R'lien blinks and then grins, Telinda in a panic, could only mean one thing... Telinda it is, though hair is in disarray and clothes have been tossed on
hurridly, buttons undone and untucked. Stopping, just before running into
Eliora, and maybe even R'lien, she takes a deep breath "Its Tia!"
she says, and then lets the words run "Shedoesn'tlikethecavernandisclutchingontheshardingbeach!!" R'lien's jaw drops. Triania strides over from the Weyrhall. Tiarnath> Inyanth senses that Tiarnath croons smugly and nudges an egg
with her muzzle << They are pretty our eggs, you should come see! >> Farin strides over from the Weyrhall. Kaital walks over from the Weyrhall. Telinda grabs ahold of Eliora's hands and turns her panicked gaze to R'lien.
"Idon'tknowwhattodo!" she cries out. Triania stands, munching her meatroll, and giving the trio of riders the
oddest look Kaital comes out with Farin, wondering where Triania flew off to. Eliora blinks, mouth hanging open, "Oh! Oh!! But that's not where they
go..." she hms, "I guess we should see if we can move her! Which
beach is she on?" Farin glances around. Telinda gestures wildly in the direction of the lake, "Thataway!"
she says to Eliora, glancing over her shoulder and back. Triania blinks, putting it together, "She's clutching on /MY/ beach???" R'lien takes off at a jog in that direction, not quite looking like he has
a clue what to do. Eliora smiles, hoping to calm Telinda, though she herself is a bit apprehensive,
"Okay..I'll wake Maristh..let's go see how far along she is." hoping
that perhaps only an egg or two have been clutched and can be moved. Telinda nods hurridly to Eliora's suggestion and sighs at Triania, "Can
you -believe- it!?" Triania looks aghast "But... but... but.... " Oh, this is gonna
be a mess. Farin continues to glance around. It doesn't look like anyone is hurt. Eliora can't believe it herself and gestures helplessly towards the small
crowd gathering, "Let's go see, but remember we shouldn't get too close
if there are eggs, Tia might be nervous." Telinda snorts, suddenly a little of her old self creeping through, "Nervous?"
Another snort, "I'll teach her what's right!" she says, quickly
following Eliora and trying to stuff her shirt into her trousers even if the
buttons remain undone. Kaital looks to Farin, "If someone *does* get to close, you might be
needed. And they might need help moving any eggs, don't you think?" You walk over to the lakeside meadow. Maristh raises her head sleepily and lets out a grumble. Dragon> Southern Weyr sense that Tiarnath croons smugly << This
is much nicer! >> You walk over to White Sands Beach. Farin strides over from the lakeside meadow. R'lien stops dead in his tracks as he looks out at the beach, "Shells..."
he mutters. Triania covers her eyes. Oh... the mess! And just after I got allt he storm
debris picked up Kaital gasps at the number of eggs. Eliora tromps out onto the soft sand of the beach and just /gapes/ never
having seen anything like this before. "She must have moved those few
logs back into the trees and..goodness." she looks speechless for a moment,
"I wonder why she's out here?" Tiarnath warbles at the sight of her lifemate and uncurls herself lightly
to reveal yet another egg deposited. Carefully she nudges it, and then ensures
that it is well insulated by the sand. Telinda does one of those snuffle-type wails, "I dunnnnooo!" she
cries out, "But she says the cavern is too boring!" Sniff. Dragon> Southern Weyr sense that Maristh sends out sleep draped thoughts,
<<What's going on? Why is there a commotion on the beach?>> Triania looks "But but but.../ the caverns nice! Nicer than my beach!!!"
She acts like she cleans the individual sand molecules out here Dragon> Southern Weyr sense that Tiarnath rumbles smugly << I found
a nice warm spot which is more fun than those stuffy old caverns. >> Farin watches, calming down as he sees that only eggs are going to be layed
and nobodies going to be hurt. Eliora laughs a bit and then covers her mouth. The laughter brought forth
as her mind just isn't sure how to respond. "Tel..is she feeling okay?"
her thoughts plod along, "It is warm sand, sorta like the hatching cavern." R'lien just shakes his head, muttering, "In all my turns... Kaital sits down on the sand, just astonished. Telinda blinks at the Weyrwoman. She always knew she had at least one screw
less than everyone else. "She's fine. Happy. But" she stammers.. Triania just... well... munches on the last of her roll. "But is it
warm enough?" Eliora touches TElinda's shoulder comfortingly, "She's okay so we'll
let her finish her clutching and think about what to do. I don't know how
wise it is to try and move the eggs. We don't want to take any risks, especially
with the pass only about half over." Telinda waves a hand helplessly, "But she can't stay here. I mean what
will we do?! What will people think?!" Eliora thinks, and then slides her shoes off to touch the sand with bare
feet. "It does get too hot to touch at high noon, and it's still warm
now. I don't see why not, after all firelizard eggs harden here." she
smiles at Telinda, "I guess people will think we've got ourselves a clutch." Farin hrms, watching. R'lien finally gets done gawking and starts to think.... "Tria, how
much fencin' material do we have onhand?" Triania gulps. "Uh... with Paradise's recent tithe, at least 40 lengths.
Umm..... I can have some firepits dug and uh.... " Her mind reels, trying
to focus on coming up with solutions, but thinking mostly of getting antoher
meatroll... and some jam Kaital mutters to Farin, "... needs a... a roof that is... what... rain." Eliora ohs at R'lien and smiles at his clever idea, "Firepits probably
won't hurt, and we should also ask the weyr firelizards to keep an eye out
for tunnlesnakes." Telinda flops down into the sand, "I always knew I'd be an embarrassment"
she mumbles to herself R'lien grins at Tria, "I don' think we need firepits... was thinking
of a fence ta keep folks off." Triania chuckles "I ain't going near those eggs. Anyone who does deserves
what Tia gives 'em" Farin says "Sir, Ma'ams, should a roof of some type be put up?"" Eliora ohs! and sits down in the sand by Telinda, "Don't think that!
Now, it's unusual...yes, I'll say that, but it's not a bad thing." she
starts to sound a bit surer, "There's no reason to be embarrased, and
anyone who thinks so can try to move an egg to the hatching grounds themselves.
That should settle that." she grins. R'lien grins at Farin, "No roof in the cavern, don' see a need for one
out here." Telinda listens carefully to Eliora and glances towards Tiarnath, who seems
busy with yet another egg, "You don't think so? I mean, no, I wouldn't
want to move one, its not like they are small." Farin nods to R'lien, "Okay." Kaital shrugs and let's his betters make the decisions. Triania looks at the gold, still egg heavy with days of clutching left to
do, and then looks down at her own belly. Oh, would it be the end of summer
already! Eliora keeps smiling and using her most calming voice, "This certainly
is different, but surely it's not a bad thing. We can consult the harpers
to see if there's some precedent in the records." Telinda wrinkles her nose. "Oh, I know Tia, she's prolly been studying
the beach and thinking about it for the last few days! Shards, I bet she even
waited until I went swimming." Eliora chuckles a bit, "She's a clever one, no doubting that. She did
pick the lake beach and not the Ocean beach, otherwise I would be worried." Telinda nods, "I just hope its warm enough" she says with a sigh,
glancing around for the first time at all the other people, "I guess
we can always get fires going out here if needed." Triania sighs, biting a thumbnail and still trying to think of ways to make
it warmer. "At least the rains are ended, and it should be getting warmer" Eliora looks to Tria and nods, "Not that it ever gets cold here. I think
it'll be fine. Firelizards clutch here all the time." she smiles out
over the large eggs clutched so far. R'lien hmmms, "Give it a couple of seven-days an' this beach'll be as
hot as the sands during the day, if not even hotter." Kaital mutters to Farin, "That... itself... away... eggs.." Farin grins at Kaital, "You know you don't have to always be whispering." R'lien grins over at the steward, "I really don' think it'll be a problem,
we're already well inta spring." Kaital shrugs. Alinor strides over from the lakeside meadow. Inyanth ambles across from the lakeside meadow. K'laarn strides over from the lakeside meadow. Triania just bites on her thumbnail more. This just does /not/ fit into her
neat, little anal way of How Things Work. "Bleachers! Jays.... I'm going
to have to drag half the chairs out here for the hatching.... Owwwww...." Telinda shakes her head from her seat on the ground and finally seems to
realise that her shirt is half unbuttoned. Doing them up she sighs some more
and mutters under her breath. K'laarn walks over, the very picture of astonishment. "Oh. My."
He says. Eliora crosses her legs in the sand and leans forward a bit, watching Tiarnath
carefully mound sand about an egg, "She certainly seems to know what
to do with them." Alinor steps over and suggests as she overhear's Telinda's last comment:
"That's what candidates are for." Alinor adds, after a moment, though, "Unconventional of her, isn't it,
though?" A brown eyere gards the close-guarded clutch. Tiarnath croons happily to Inyanth and layers some more sand against a patterned
green egg, the patterns like leaves in a breeze. K'laarn remarks, "Aren't you worried about possible dangers to the clutch?
Are there dragons watching for wild animals?" Telinda shrugs, "I dunno how" she replies to Eliora, "I guess
instinct." A small smile flickers across her face at Alinor's comment,
"Its a Tia thing. Never likes to be -normal-." Inyanth is all swelling pride as he moves closer to take a better look. He
seems delighted with the whole thing -- and happuily oblivious to oddity of
the locale. It has the three things he likes: gold, sand and ocean. R'lien hms, "Good thought K'laarn, more than one way in, might be good
ta have a couple dragons off towards tha jungle keepin' an eye open." Triania starts muttering a list of things. "Gotta arrange for folks
to watch for snakes and wherries. Gotta get the fencing out here... gotta
have fire kindling out here if it gets chilly... gotta... " Gotta get
something to eat Telinda frowns as she realises she just heard K'laarn's voice. Even if the
two seem not to be as close as normal, she nevertheless heeds his words, turning
to R'lien for an answer, since he seems to be coming up with a few. She nods
as she hears him. There. See? Alinor shakes her head. "I should have figured." Pauses, though:
"How are they going to stay warm enough?" Kaital looks at Farin, "I get the feeling I'm not going to be working
on roofs after all." Eliora hmms, "Perhaps that's not a bad idea. I'm sure we can find plenty
of willing dragons to watch. Beach duty can't be that bad." Farin nods to Kaital, "I don't think you will either." Eliora says "We could put in a few firepits to generate a bit of extra
heat during the night, that would take a little engineering though, we don't
want to cook the eggs with too much heat." K'laarn nods his head at R'lien, looking relieved that the Weyrleader agreed
with him. "Its a beautiful clutch so far." He remarks. Kaital says "What happens next?" Farin shrugs, "I don't know." K'laarn walks over toward Eliora and nods, "I'm sure Tiarnath will keep
turning them so that doesn't happen, right?" He looks to her curiously.
After all, she's the more experienced one. Triania mumbles to the healer and her new assistant. "Uh... she'll take
probably 2 to 3 days for the whole clutch. Then they get hard, while the dragons
search out candidates" Somewhere near the back, one of the kitchen lads perks up "I guess now
would be a bad time to ask for vacation?" Eliora looks up to the bronzerider and nods, "Oh yes, I'm sure she will.
The Queens always do. " of course they always clutch on sands too she
thinks. "Tia seems to know exactly what to do so far, she's banking them
carefully in the sand like an old pro." Triania slaps her forehead. "I can't go on vacation at graduation now...
Jays!" Alinor simply shakes her head slightly. "How to deal with people coming
by on accident? Will she mind?" Telinda frowns, "Tia?" she asks of Alinor as she pushes herself
steadily to her feet. A pause, "She says so long as they don't come too
close she doesn't mind, if they come too close, thats their hard luck. Umm,
Tia, what exactly does that mean?" she asks of her lifemate taking a
tentative step forward towards Queen and eggs. K'laarn nods, and looks toward Tiarnath. "Seems so." He regards
the queen thoughtfully. Alinor sighs, and gives Inyanth a look. "He says he thinks it's the
perfect location. You can get baths without losing sight of the eggs." Eliora gets up from the sand also and brushes off grains, "We could
put up a small fence and declare this part of the beach off limits just like
we do with the hatching caverns. People rarely bother the eggs there, I think
they'll show the same sense with them here." Tiarnath rumbles in something that could only approach humour and cants her
long neck to one side to gently whuffle Inyanth as his thoughts almost mirror
hers. As she moves, more eggs come into view. One percocious little girl of about three or four turns waddles forward through
the sand, granuals sticking to her chubby legs. Her thumb is in her mouth,
and she's been forgotten by one of the girls who brought her with to watch.
She giggles, and starts to stumble forward gleefully toward the resting eggs,
but doesn't reach them as another child runs forward and grabs her. She immediately
starts crying and babbles. "Wanna touch eggs!" Triania lurches forward, hand reaching for the child. Oh... what is her name
again? "Ilarwa?!? No touch eggs!" Farin slips out. Farin walks toward the lakeside meadow. The little girl looks up at Triania dauntedly and sniffles once more. She
didn't actually really start crying, but maybe the tears woulda helped. It
seems they didn't. Triania sighs and shuffles the girl off to her nanny. Okay... one decent
step towards this mommy thing R'lien smiles and just looks over the odd scene. Haven comes over the dunes, still decked in riding gear. "What the...." K'laarn glances over and notes Haven and gestures at her. "Hello."
He calls a greeting to the brownrider. Haven pulls off her goggles and gloves, giving K'laarn a quick wave as she's
too confused to give him her usual scowl S'ton walks over from the lakeside meadow. R'lien turns and gives Haven a brief wave, "Tiarnath suprised us all... Haven shakes her head, slowly unfastening her jacket. "What.... why....
who.... how?" S'ton blinks. "I thought Llanth was joking," he gapes, before shaking
his head. K'laarn moves a few feet to whisper to Haven for a brief second as she waits
for her other answers to her confused questions. K'laarn mutters to Haven, "... you... Telinda?... and well, I... kind
of... I'm afraid I've... done this before." Haven blinks, breaking her attention from the newest egg that Tiarnath is
quickly covering. "Huh?" so Poetic. "Oh. uh..... sure, K'laarn.
Yeah." K'laarn looks immensely relieved. He smiles at Haven gratefully. Haven thinks 'Uh... I'll write down some things and get back with you." K'laarn nods and says "Grand." Haven smiles a bit, and just looks perplexed. maybe its from the odd location
for the clutch, or maybe because she just realised she's agreed to help her
sworn enemy. Haven bundles up her jacket in her arms. She turns to grin up at S'ton. "Well...
looks like location is going up on the next betting board next clutch" S'ton chuckles softly, before glancing over to the mound. "I'll say.....it's
going to be interesting just to see if the eggs /can/ be moved." Lily strides over from the lakeside meadow. Lily walks in and whoas, seeing everyone - the beach has never been this
crowded before! Kaital glances aqt S'ton, "They aren't going to." Haven frowns a bit. "You gonna convince Tia to let her let you move
an egg? I'd like to be here to see that" R'lien nods, "I don' think we'll be doin' any egg moving." Haven looks the large WLM up and down. Granted, he's a big, strong man....
but Tia's bigger. She looks him over one more time, what the hey S'ton hehs. "Are you joking? No way. They're here, and pretty much where
they'll stay. Now, for future candidates, we have a problem." Haven blinks and stops the subtle admiration for a moment. "Well...
having a dragonette running off into the dunes would be a bad thing I suppose,
but there is time to figure that out." R'lien hmmms, "How much o' one? I'm not seein' more than just havin'
to scramble around a bit more ta get things ready out here." S'ton chuckles. "This is wide out space, not to mention we're near the
lake. What if an egg just...rolls? Or candidates braving their luck since
eggs are out in the open?" Lily hmms, thinking to herself, everybody here is Rider(at least, as far as
I know) - the Weyrleader is here. There's a pile of eggs, and Tiarnath looks
very protective of them. I have a feeling that my favorite spot is going to
be rather crowded for a while! Haven shrugs. "I'm sure the steward would be just pleased as punch to
build some fencing or something of the like out here. That could help." R'lien grins, "I'm sure she'd be just thrilled ta build stuff on this
beach... S'ton nods, before murmuring, "Not to mention extra chores for candidates."
Was that a malevolent glint? From S'ton? Posh. "Make sure they don't
have too much time to gawk, or get ideas....." Haven smirks. "You look almost.... like you enjoy giving them chores."
She grins and leans closer, "I like that, you know." She teases Cloud warbles questioningly. S'ton puts a hand to his chest, giving a rueful grin. "Haven? Me? Why,
I'm the most easygoing person you know." Uh huh. "Well, I might
enjoy it." Haven nods and holds up her hand, pinching two fingers together. "Just
a little bit, right?" Telinda has been stood near Tiarnath for a few moments, hand laid against
the gold's muzzle in silent communication. "Tia, I wish you hadn't." S'ton nods, though he spreads out his arms....to their for span. "Okay...maybe
that much." Lily can't help but giggle. Poor candidates! Haven giggles and pokes him in his side. "Yeah well... you wouldn't
know by the way you act" and winks at him S'ton winces, rubbing at the poked side, before he makes a face. "Ah...it's
just get those who Impress ready for Weyrlinghood." He winks back, before
glancing over to Telinda. Telinda turns around, shrugs, and glances at the gathered people, "Well,
she won't be moved, and I'm not chancing moving any of those eggs even if
she'd let me" she says in a tone of resignation. Haven giggles. "I think you enjoy it almost as much as that steward
likes her surprise inspections on the barracks" S'ton makes a face, before nodding to Telinda. "Is there anything you
want us to do, in the meantime?" Lily settles down to the sands, just to watch everything. No use bothering
Tiarnath! Telinda chuckles softly, "I don't think so, for now. Though Faranth
knows this won't be the easiest clutching for any of us." She ponders
for a moment, looking around the beach, "I guess seating is properly
a good idea. Of some sort." R'lien says "We'll move that small section from tha galleries out here
first I guess, it'll hold a dozen or two." Haven sighs and just shakes her head. "I don't think I've ever heard
of something like this happening before"
