And in the beginning there was MUSH!! Well, what is MUSH? It stands
for Multi User Shared Hallucination, which in itself is a pretty wierd
anacronym. So do we all take drugs and plug into our computers? Nah,
don't be silly! MUSHes provide a safe, drug-free (though still addictive)
way to roleplay different aspects of personalities.
I tend to restrict mine to those based on the Pern books by Anne
McCaffrey, basically because there are lots of people there and because
its fairly easy to get into and understand. In case you've not heard,
Pern is now a semi-medieval world which was colonised and has adapted
substantially since doing so. The original occupants were faced with
an unusual organism that killed all organic material. To cut a long
story short, a genetic engineer mutated some native creatures (firelizards)
and created dragons. These dragons, initially small but still large
enough to carry a human, have grown until the smallest of their number
measures around 20 metres. The dragons can 'flame' and destroy this
organism known as Thread. A number of crafts also emerged on the planet,
ranging from the traditional bards (Harpers), to medical staff now
using mostly native herbs (Healers), to weavers, smiths and many other
disciplines.
I play a number of characters on a number of games. Some I like
to keep secret, others I don't mind people knowing. So, what follows
is a list of the characters I tend to make public. You can visit each
of the MUSH worlds by clicking on the title if your browser supports
telnet.

SouCon is also based on Anne McCaffery's Pern
books and set in the 10th Pass of the Red Star. This time however,
the MUSH is based in the Southern Continent, often being referred
to as SC. The events of 'All the Weyrs of Pern' did not occur
in this version of Pern's history, references to pre-AIVAS Pern
from that book areacceptable, but the plot itself did not come
to pass.

PernMUSH is based on Anne McCaffery's Pern books and is set in
the 10th Pass of the Red Star, which began in the last decade, in
the Northern Continent and is often referred to as NC by those that
play there. It does not recognize the AIVAS plot which was presented
in several of the more recently published books. However, some of
the strictures against women have eased and women can be do almost
everything, including being a CraftMaster or ride any dragon colour
except bronze.
